UFO Sighting Poll Results

There are interesting (but not surprising) totals so far on the poll I put up on November 27th. The constraints of a poll necessarily leave little room for ambiguity, and if the UFO enigma is permeated with anything it’s ambiguity. The question was “What causes UFO reports?” I felt that this was more descriptive of the phenomenon. Since we haven’t captured one yet (at least not one that everyone is allowed to see :) ) we are left with people’s impressions. It’s a semantic issue, but an important one.

“Alien ships from other planets” received twice a many votes as the next two popular categories, “Interdimensional or time travelers” and “Undiscovered natural phenomena.” Interesting that “Non-human intelligence native to Earth” received two votes. Perhaps when Mac Tonnies releases his new Cryptoterrestrial book this will change.

Almost half of you said that UFO sightings were a combination of all the scenarios presented (including the very unpopular “Mass hysteria/ folie a’ deux,” which got no votes on it’s own.) “Some of the above” came in a distant second, with only half the votes of “All of the above,” but still reaffirming my faith that many people who look at the subject still take a broad view, considering all history of the phenomenon.

I’ll leave the poll up until the pollhost people force it out of existence, so we can check back from time to time. Thank you for voting!

Any idea on when Mac Tonnies will have his book out?

    misteranderson,

Probably later this year sometime. You should go to his site and ask him.

You were the one who won the contest here, right? Did your prize arrive safely?
