Music From Outer Space

It’s not all aliens, alternate universes and military conspiracies on my plate. If you’re near your computer on Sunday, January 7th from 8-10PM PST (or any Sunday evening for that matter) tune in to my show Radio Misterioso at killradio for an overload of UFO/ alien/ cult/ lounge-types of wacky music. My guest DJ will be “Mr. Fab” from the great site Music For Maniacs. I’ll be posting some of the songs we play in the following weeks, as well as some others from my collection.
The past few months have been heavy on the interviews, some of which you can download here. Guests have included Bill Moore, mutiliation researcher Chris O’Brien, Nick Redfern and ghost hunter Richard Senate.

I refer to “Radio Misterioso” as the show that made Dr. Demento finally shut off his radio, assume the fetal postion in a dark corner of his room, rocking back and forth with hands clasped over knees and eyes wide in terror, repeating over and over how the “monsters are coming out of the computer…stop them…stop them.”
That makes it my favorite web radio show on the airwaves today. I’ll be listening tonight, no doubt. My favorite shows are the ones with just music, although he has some pretty cool guests on, as well.

Thanks Adam! I might have to change the show description, yours is much better. As it turns out, we only played about 6-8 UFO songs, but I really enjoyed meeting one of the leaders of the “weird music” appreciation movement. He’ll be on again in the next few weeks or months. Meanwhile, I’ll post my own collection of strange, UFO-related tunes on ufomystic from time to time. The first one is up right now!

I listened to the whole show. Good stuff. Loved that robot tune. And REALLY loved “Elohim” by our friend Rael. I mean, what’s not to admire about someone who has actually got laid AND made a living from being a “saucer buff”? …A thought just occurred to me. Maybe that’s what most flying saucer enthusiasts have gotten into saucer research for–to get laid. Since they couldn’t get laid by any earth babes, they decided getting screwed by alien greys was the next best thing. Or has Pam Stonebrooke said: “Blondes have more fun.”…Venusian Blondes, that is. And yes, I’m babbling–that crazy saucer music has me all giddy!

Some more good UFO tunes:
Motorway to Roswell - The Pixies.
Zero Zero UFO - The Ramones (well, I had to include the Ramones, didn’t I Greg?).
I Am Seeing UFOs - Dee Dee Ramone (with Joey on vocals).
But for me Megadeth’s Hangar 18 is hard to beat in the UFO stakes.
Also my good mate Jon Downes put out a CD in 2000 on which all the songs were strictly Fortean - one on Roswell, one on Crop Circles, one on Bigfoot, etc.

Nick,
As I said on the other post (”take me to your leader cha cha” mp3) I will probably not post anything by “known” bands or singers. I do like the Dee Dee song. I found it on Napster before they went all stupid on us.
