Contactee Seance Church Still Exists

Church

In yesterday’s post, I wondered if the “Church of Divine Light” at 837 South Park View Street here in Los Angeles had been razed for condominiums or other such urban blight. This was the location where in 1955, contactee Dana Howard met her beautiful Venusian space sister “Diane” in all her ectoplasmic glory, with the assistance of trance medium Reverend Bertie Lillie Candler.

We drove over to the address today to check it out. It’s still there, and it’s still a church! It’s now the Los Angeles Filipino Baptist Church, so I don’t think any spirits are called up in the building on a regular basis, but I was happy to imagine that the walls may still reverberate with the holy words “I AM DIANE. I COME FROM VENUS.”

    Nice update Greg.

that’s so cool–imagine all the people who’ve used that building with no idea of its occult history; it makes you wonder how many places literally under our feet or around the corner that have a hidden history. I’ve recently uncovered something pretty amazing about a very non-descript building in salt lake–a hint: israel regardie.

    Greg,

Any chance you’ll do another book like “Project Beta”? I really enjoyed that book. You got to the bottom of a case. There must be other stories out there?

  4. Greg Bishop Says:

    regan,

Thanks. It was fun to track it down (which involved looking the address up on mapquest and driving over there during a hole in the weather.)

    Richelle,

One of my favorite buildings here in L.A. was the Flying Saucer Cafe on Wilshire Blvd. It was razed in the early 1980s for a Staples of all things. I managed to see it just once. There are no pictures of it on the web, but I’ll bet there are in city records.

One Of Jack Parsons’ homes in Pasadena is still standing, and people are still living in it. I took a picture of it for Jack Carter’s book “Sex and Rockets,” but it wasn’t used. Imagine what went on in there! I didn’t ask the woman who came to the door about any weirdness they might have been experiencing, because I wanted permission for the photo.

  6. Richelle Hawks Says:

So you know the address; send her a cool postcard w/ your email and ask about the weirdness. They might not even know the history of the house they’re in, and would probably be grateful and forthcoming. It’s worth a shot.

    Female Contactees:
I have had the distinct pleasure of being a friend of Ms. Penny Victoria Harper, who has lectured many times about her numerous Contact experiences and on one occasion I someyhow got pulled into one of them briefly. The last time I saw her, Penny was alive and well leading a full and productive life, but retired from lectures.
All inquries for interviews shoukd be fielded through myself.

    The Divine Light Church:
Sounds a lot like the Inner Light Church I attended in West Los Angeles for a few years. It rented the Masonic Lodge on South Barrington Avenue until that was demolished. The head was a lady named Trudy Yarno.
One Sunday a lady that looked very much like Semasaji (Billy Meyer’s Contact)attended a service. On another occassion it was visited by a group of very quiet, withdrawn and solemn ladies wearing Muslim likeoutfits, as if in a Star Trek epiosode.
Anybody out there know what happened to it?

Would you mind emailing me? Mine is

  9. Greg Bishop Says:

    Richelle,

Good idea! I hope the same people are in the house.

  10. Greg Bishop Says:

    Charles,

How did you get pulled into an experience with Ms. Harper?

The “muslimlike” women might have been from the Donato group. I used to see them at UFO conferences.

  11. Greg Bishop Says:

    misteranderson,

It depends on who OKs one of my book proposals. Yes, there are other stories, but you have to convince a publisher that they’re worth telling!

The “Jeopardy” show in Saudi Arabia, shown on Al-jazerra, reminds me of Star Trek. Greg: Good luck with your book proposals. I would think that the quality of Project Beta would ensure success. But then George Crane’s second book didn’t really look much worth reading. haha. I’m too dangerous conceptually to be marketable. haha. I like the underground zine-blog scene — it’s harder to track then even those new fancy cell phone features keeping the FBI befuddled.

  13. reganlee Says:

Greg, I don’t have a way of contacting you via email. Would you mind e-mailing me? Thanks.

    Greg,
    Hello
I got busy with lots of things after I blogged your Web Site, and did not check back until a week ago. I have tried to Contact rlee@orangeorb.net several times, but she has not responded.
Come to think of it, with my E,mail posted like it is, the response to my Blog has been really dismal.

As to your inquiry,I confirmed within a week that I was with Penny, was kicked off the ship for being strange, and for a long time I found myself standing on solid ground and looking at a curved surface frosted over and appearing ice cold before waking up.
A few weeks latter I woke up with a slight headache so I had to lay down, and with my eyes closed but awake had a vision of Penny coming to a window of her North Hollywood hills cabin and opening the shade. Then this broke into a gazillion little squares that flowed rapidly in a half dozen directions as the vision ‘unraveled’.
I confirmed by phone within ten minutes that what I had seen was in real time.

I have not had a repeat performance of this, although a year ago I shared a dream with a lady friend that was quite bizzare,a great body of water inverted up in the sky. My guess is that this ability is a cousin to Remote Viewing, and in the case of Penny it was a gift of her E.T. friends, this link up, as was the vision of the cabin, up in the air and in the morning, where Penny said her friends were stationed in a cloaked ship.
The kind of phenomina that occured is covered in the movie The Golden Child, where the hero has strange Lucid Dreams. The Bible refers to special dreams, and Whitley Streiber had a few of these that were a special reality created by the ETs to meet in.
I hope that covers your question.

Save for the strange dream about a year ago I have not been having any other woo-woo experiences.

  15. Greg Bishop Says:

    Charles,

I think that was Regan’s question. Her email should work.

Your experience does indeed sound like others that Strieber, Karla Turner and others have described.

    Hi there,

My pastor told me to check this site out because I go to this same church since 2004.. I converted from Catholic to Baptist and even got baptised on this same church in 05. WHen My Pastor said to check this site out, I freaked out.. I’m still stoked. Wow, very cool.. *wink wink.

    Respectfully,

    Mark ..

  17. Greg Bishop Says:

    Mark,

I found it really surprising and nice that your church hadn’t been taken over by developers. I’ glad that your pastor doesn’t find anything objectionable about the site!

    Thanks for commenting and reading.
