Oh! and that Lili St Cyr sure provokes a lot of Venus-related thoughts in my mind. YOWZA!

I played a bit of the audio from Bill Moore’s 1989 MUFON speech tonight on the show, and what he said about some UFO researchers and their interactions still holds true today, almost 20 years later.

I don’t know if St. Cyr was “crazy,” but she seemed to have been open to some strange possibilities. Also, college professors would be disinclined to voice these kind of opinions, I would think.

Imagine the exchange this way:

“WALLACE: Major Keyhoe, I understand you have three new reports on file which in your opinion… you have them currently on file, they’re new reports. These, in your opinion, would convince every person in this country that flying saucers are a fact. Is that correct?

STEVEN GREER: It should convince a lot of people because of the names involved.

WALLACE: Tell us about it.

STEVEN GREER: I told your interviewer or in Washington that I couldn’t mention the names because they were too high; one of them is a top scientist in this country, whose name would be known to everybody.

WALLACE: But, why wouldn’t he want his…?

STEVEN GREER: Because he’s afraid of official ridicule.

WALLACE: He’s afraid of official ridicule?

STEVEN GREER: That’s right.”

One could indeed make the case that not much has changed… not just from the media’s perspective, however, but from ufology’s as well.
