Greg’s Occasional Pic of the Moment #8

Nick & Greg & Johnny

When Nick was visiting here in L.A., I took him to the gravesite of one of his heroes, Johnny Ramone, located in the Hollywood Forever cemetery. Dee Dee Ramone is also buried here, along with such luminaries as Rudolph Valentino, Peter Lorre, Virginia Rappe (of Fatty Arbuckle scandal fame) Alfalfa Switzer, and Mel Blanc.

P.S. Also entombed here (in the Jewish masoleum) is Herbert Von Karman, pioneer of American rocketry, who worked with infamous amateur rocket scientist and professional occult practitioner Jack Parsons.

Well, not very UFO related, but a really cool pic nonetheless :-)

    Greg,
I wish I took that pic, but I wasn’t there. It must have been Kenn Thomas.

    RPJ,

I didn’t want to put up conference pictures at the site, but I also wanted to show that we’re interested in other things besides UFOs! I’m a big fan of the Ramones too.

Conference pics will be going up at my flickr photostream soon.

  4. Greg Bishop Says:

    Paul,

My memory must be going. Credit corrected. Thanks!

OK now I feel guilty for dissing, big-time, masturbatory pyro-technic jock rock last night around 2 a.m. to my bassist buddy. I only listen to females singing non-Western tuning. Is this related to UFOs?

Well there’s this German who wants to pay for me to have an Amazon book on the “subject.” (psychic music) Today’s working title:

The Oz Effect: Resonance, Revelry and Revolution. Or maybe Conspiracy, Consciousness and Cunts. Umm. Maybe not. Consciousness and Dweebs. There we go — no alliteration. Wait….

CRACKING! To quote Fletcher, Nick’s Man-Monkey source, who smelled like fox piss.

Highly recommended as per the Ramones:

Stan Gooch’s new book, Neanderthal Legacy: Reawakening our genetic and cultural heritage.

  6. Nick Redfern Says:

Well, the Ramones did record a song called “Zero, Zero, UFO” so there is kind of a UFO connection…just about.

  7. red pill junkie Says:

And let’s not forget that Joey sang the cover of “What a Wonderful World”.

Only an ALIEN would have the nerve to say that!! :-)

  8. drew hempel Says:

OK Nick you just gave away the secret behind your early magazine title. haha. When I was ranting against Western male music (as mentioned above) at this anarchist cafe the song on the background was “Living in the Ice Age.” So I guess words do “count.” haha. For example is “none” singular or plural? Read Andrew Hodges’ new book for the convoluted answer.

  9. Nick Redfern Says:

    RPJ:
Joey’s version of What a Wonderful World is probably one of his best recordings ever. The beginning even pays homage to the Sex Pistols’ Pretty Vacant, so it has to be good!
