British UFO Mystery Solved (One Of Them Anyway)
The sighting from last week has been put down to “chinese lanterns” released from a nearby wedding party.
From the Watford Observer (UK):
The floating, circling UFOs seen last Saturday night were, it would appear, little more than Chinese lanterns released as part of a wedding celebration at the Bushey Police Club.
Robert Rosamond from the British UFO Research Organisation (BUFORA) confirmed residents weren’t “seeing things” and that his organisation had received a great many similar reports in recent months.
The floating lights (or a similar version) are available from SkyLanterns, or you can make your own with white garbage bags, balsa wood or drink straws and birthday candles. I did when I was a kid. Should have taken some to Roswell.
This doesn’t explain how some of the lights apparently took off at high speed or flew against the wind, unless these were erroneous observations, or people were making things up. Who knows?
Last week, I talked to a fellow I know who has been releasing large fire lanterns in Long Beach for months now. There is apparently a lot of online discussion about the pictures and video. Some witnesses swear that the things are “genuine” UFOs, whatever that means. Goes to show ya.
