The USAF has come out with their explanation of what the Colonel saw.

Others also chime in on their take of the event. The Volkswagon logo explanation is must-read stuff. That's it! VWs explain all UFO sightings! Now we can all focus our attention on Nessie, who is in fact a BMW.

Bill and Miles,

I don't know if he's up to any disinfo business, I was making a point about the AF (specifically counterintel) and their usual tactics. I also read Col. Fields' religious thoughts on his sighting. The fact that he interprets it in a Christian context may be further evidence that he's not doing anyone's earthly bidding.

Raven,

Thanks for the photo work. You're right. Still looks like an amorphous blob.

Point taken Mr. Hancock.

I've heard (and seen video maybe?) of "Gordo" on the stolen footage. I've forgotten about that before.

Thanks for reminding me of that.

And Raven, I am equally curious about our various needs for proof and how we each quantify the value of "evidence."

Looking forward to more conversations with UFOlks here at UFO Mystic.

One can sniff suspiciously at Air Farce (you can tell I'm ex-army, LOL!)materials regarding UFOs till the cows come home, but, as for me, Gordon Cooper's superb memoir "Leap Of Faith" is a wonderful testament to the belief in the reality of these things and the ability of a questioning human being...Air Force "Jr. Bird" or otherwise... to put his cards on the table "before God and everybody" and say "This is what I think, this is what I know" to the world.

In recounting his life as a fighter pilot and an astronaut, "Gordo" lays it all out there, and doesn't seem to worry a smidgin about what Uncle Sam thinks as he describes chasing "saucers" in aerial encounters, having UFO films taken of hovering craft at Edwards AFB seized and "abducted" by AFOSI and other alphabet soup organizations, and stating up front that he is himself a firm UFO believer who isn't afraid to say so.

"Leap of Faith" showed me an AF Lt. Colonel and legendary astronnaut who seemed very much a kindred spirit to another "zoomie" of great integrity and zeal for the seeking of truth...Ed Ruppelt. Kudos to both of them....and to any and all other military types who step up and tell it like it is.

Maybe this newest one up is the same kind of fella. He sure doesn't seem like he's up to any particular disinfo "monkey business".

Regardless of whether or not the object(s) in the pictures is ever identified, it's interesting that the Colonel immediately tries to integrate what he saw with his religious beliefs; the topic of an earlier discussion thread.

Religious beliefs are just that; beliefs. But there seems to be resistance on our part to be satisfied with beliefs. We want proof, even when the object of those beliefs is something beyond the scope of traditional forms of proof, like the concept of a Divine Creator(s).

It makes me wonder; Do we seek proof because our beliefs are so frail that they can't stand on their own? Or is it because our belief system is so strong and our ability to confront unknown phenomenon so fragile that we have to force-fit it onto the structure of our belief systems?

Hi Greg/Hi Jonah,

We've all gotta right to be suspicious of the Air Force, given what we know about their use of UFOs for various "shenanigans" over the years; especially as documented in Greg's PROJECT BETA and Nick's BODYSNATCHERS.

The WorldNetDaily site is a Right Wing site that skirts the political/parapolitical line. I was CERTAIN it was they who ran the news story about the Mexican Air Force's UFO videos being American Stealth Fighters - just did an internet search and had to correct myself ... it was NewsMax that I was remembering:

UFOs Gone Wild, Men From Mars Visit Mexico
by Charles R. Smith
Thursday, May 13, 2004

" ... the sighting can be attributed to the Bush defense budget and not little green men. The unidentified aircraft that shadowed the Mexican surveillance plane are reportedly part of a squadron of new stealth strike craft operating from the U.S."

NewsMax is a similar Right Wing site that skirts the same ParaPolitical line.

My Mom and step-Dad just recently moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas (home of the long-running Ozarks UFO Conference) and to drive their from Austin we usually go thru Van Buren (which is South West of Eureka) where the sighting occurred.

If you go to this original URL for the beginning article in this series there is a bigger wider shot of the BOLs with red lights from a radio tower to the right in the same pic for comparison.

Jonah,

I'll have to watch myself when I'm home from a party, posting at 3:30 in the morning!

You're not snippy, you're keeping me on my toes, and that's what the comments are for.

I also noticed that the WorldNet Daily site seems to have a definite political slant, but thankfully, this doesn't appear to creep into the article.

I have some decent image manipulation software and have enhanced the original UFO picture. The first image is blown up and enhanced in grey scale. The second utilizes a filter to bring out topographical variations.

The alleged "occupant" is probably the shape near the left hand side of the image. It has the appearance of something with 3 dimensional depth, so I deliberately tried to manipulate that portion of the picture to bring out something that resembled a person/alien.

To me it still just looks like variations in the saturation of the light rather than something with structure, but you can see for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

No problem Greg...I did want to edit the snippy ending to my post...apologies.

You still state this however..

"The retired Colonel claims that he can see someone or something in the middle of the lightform."

Maybe I'm missing something. Can you provide the passage that indicates this?
