Alan

Discomfort? Did I use that word?! No, I have no discomfort with the ETH at all.

It's much simpler than that: I just don't think it's valid any more.

From when I first got interested in UFOs in the late 70s, and right up until about 1999/2000 I was a full-on believer in the ETH. Indeed, my books "A Covert Agenda;" "The FBI Files" and "Cosmic Crashes" are all totally ET-driven in terms of hypotheses.

But over time I came to realise that the ET theory wasn't strange enough and couldn't account for those cross-over cases - such as those with paranormal angles; synchronicities; links with other aspects of Forteana etc.

So, it's ironic that you say I'm reluctant to go down the ET path, when I was a champion of it for years.

So, in other words, it wasn't that I wouldn't addresss it: I did so for 20 years and then ruled it out.

A fully-ish integdrated member of the US? You might be surprised....

If I watch TV, most of it is spent watching UK football channels that I have here; or the "BBC America" channel (which is all UK shows); or 2 other UK channels; I shop at a place in Dallas that sells UK food (HP Sauce, PG Tips, UK chocolate - yummy!, and Tennents Super Lager), and 2 UK theme pubs.

So, there's no Texan style cowboy hats, boots, in these parts! No church, and the rules to basketball, baseball and US football baffle me! I like living here, but I'm about as American as I am Russian!

uv777bk, you're right, and it's not just tentacles it's got, but a heck of a lot of whispy tails.

It reminds me of that ad' a little while back where two Japanese-looking cowboys capture a giant glowing jellyfish critter and sing to it.

Presumably the 'tentacles' and 'tails' are camera artefacts of whatever we're witnessing's using to lift itself up and propel itself along.

In which case, we're either witnessing an astonishing vision of the astounding future lying ahead of us, or a pile of cosmic cr*ppiness and a grim foreshadowing of why we're likely to become extinct.

Nick, I find your apparent pronounced 'discomfort' with the idea UFOs might might have an extraterrestial provenance a tweaky bit peculiar when compared to your willingness to credit the possibility UFO phenomena might be 'paranormal' at least in part.

You may even be right, but it's the one area where the normally highly flexible knicker elastic of your mind seems a tweaky bit more reluctant to stretch.

I don't want to go all Freudian on you, but I find myself wondering whether the fact you were once a denizen of Planet Norfokkia and are now a fully-ish integrated member of the whole other world that is the US got anything to do with?

Just a thought.

Drew

Personally, I don't think much of the time travel theory re humans coming back. Although I am very interested in Mac Tonnies' cryptoterrestrial theory that suggests a genuine UFO phenomenon but one that has a home grown origin - albeit not from the future.
Mac's book on this, I predict, will be much talked about when it's published.

Hey Nick have you seen this new study on predicting the future? It's featured at http://mind-energy.net Electrodes on the skin combined with MRI analysis verifying statistical studies showing humans get gut reactions to avoid catastrophes (plane, train, natural disasters, etc.)

What's your take on the theory that UFOs are humans in the future -- post-apocalyptic -- traveling back. Personally I find the UFO mythology totally self-referential, driven by existential angst that technology can never answer. That's why sci-fi bores me to tears. Stan Gooch's book "Double Helix of the Mind" has a great debunking of sci-fi mythology -- UFOlogy being a subgenre, in my opinion.

So there's 50 years left before orangutan extinction, unless dramatic changes occur. Planting tree farms probably won't work but that's the plan. Professor Jeffrey Schwartz thinks humans came from orangutans, not chimps and bonobos. I think Schwartz is right, based on behavior and morphology. Humans are to be extinct soon after orangutans due to the Great Galactic Ghoul.
