Vintage UFOs
Now this is a great idea! Why hasn’t anyone thought of doing this before? How could such an idea have passed us all by? What am I talking about, you may ask?
Well, I’ll tell you.
Researcher and mega-blogger Regan Lee has set up a new blog titled Vintage UFO that delves into the nostalgia-driven world of old-time Ufology.
You know what I mean: those long-gone days when Ufologists were generally friendly to each other (Yes, they really were! Of course, I’m sure that made it all deathly boring as a result…), when interplanetary (rather than interdimensional or intergalactic) saucers soared across the States, when the aliens were nice enough to warn us all about the threat of atomic destruction, and when to do UFO research you were expected to wear a suit and tie (thank god we moved on with respect to that latter point - well, I have at least).
You won’t find any stark, black Flying Triangles, humorless black-eyed Greys, tales of Area 51, or dark and dire conspiracies here. No!
Instead, as time progresses, you’ll doubtless learn much about wobbly flying saucer film-footage; curvy and well-stacked space babes that used to enjoy hanging around the deserts of California (Where’d they go? Oh that’s right: they have cunningly infiltrated reality TV and the music biz); all of the long-departed “George’s” (Adamski, Van Tassel, Williamson and King); Washington overflights; soil-sample-grabbing little green men; loads of information on lots of dead and decayed saucer chasers from the good old days; quaint old projects with names like Grudge, Sign and Blue Book; merry flights around Saturn and Venus with long-haired ETs; silver-colored rocket-ships; laser-guns; underground-dwelling Deros; the Palmer dwarf; Aztec; Ruppelt; Stringfield; Keyhoe; NICAP; APRO; and let us not forget the Kelly goblins, Albert Bender’s “Three Men,” and Rondolla of the Fourth Density (I didn’t make up this latter one, by the way).
I raise my glass to the ufological past in all its “Buck Rogers” glory: much more fun that today’s ufological world of underground bases, nasal probes, and sliced-and-diced cows.

You can’t beat those 50’s space brother names that sound like synthetic materials and household cleansers. Where’s Vrillon when we need him, a micro fibre in your underpants? Bleaching the inside of your toilet bowl? In the Crabwood farm house field?
I’m dreading seeing Keanu Reeves as Klaatu next year. Maybe I’ll make some popcorn and watch “Farewell Good Brothers” again.

Wow, thanks Nick! I appreciate the plug and kind words. As a thank you, here’s something just for you:

Regan
Many thanks! Why oh why can’t all the aliens look like they just stepped off the set of a Russ Meyer film? The world would be a much happier place!

Great idea. And yes, I so miss those hot venusian travellers with their tight, short space-suits
It reminds me of a “classic” B movie made here in Mexico, called “La Nave de los Monstruos” (The ship of the monsters), with a mexican comedian called Piporro, and despite the cheesy monster suits and the awfully cheap settings, I always enjoy it every time I get the chance to watch it
