UFOs: The UK Files
The British Ministry of Defense have responded to a Freedom of Information Act request by Dave Clarke, and it provides an interesting insight into their attitude to FoIA and UFO researchers, and the specific reasons behind the decision to release the MoD’s UFO files.
Notably, the correspondence (copies of which you can read at the link below) reveals that the MoD are contemplating destroying the original copies of the UFO documents once they are scanned and placed on-line.

Hi Nick, Did a quick read regarding the above. Sure sounds like no one wants to own up to releasing uneditted documents. Why release documents that have the meat taken out. The governments are suppose to work for the people not to deceive and be paid to cover up the individuals that are part and parcel of the on going deceit. Sounds like the blame should go to the cover up team not the ones trying to find out the truth. Most documents that are released appear to be so editted that no actual info can be gleened from them, thus shows that money and time has been wasted on this documentation right from the start. Cover up their buddies behinds prevents anyone from finding out the lies, deals and probes they allowed to happen to the people they are suppose to be working for not against. Sorry for being kinda rude; but, I just think that it is sad that these people with the power to cover up probably are some of the most vile and unhumain and deserve to be flown or dragged to their alien bedfellows home. As they appear to be upset enough to just destroy everything of info value.

Most of the editing/deleting that occurs on the UK files is usually related to the personal addresses and name of the person that reported the sighting.
However, as these files are from the MoD’s Defense Intelligence Staff, and not the public office, then it isn’t inconceivable that other info might be redacted.
And, there is evidence that the UK equivalent of the National Security Agency (which is called the Government Communications Headquarters) have been involved in secret UFO studies; and certainly there files have never surfaced.
An arm of the British Police Force called Special Branch was/is also involved and 1 or 2 of their files are now slowly starting to surface.
So even though we are starting to get more of these MoD files from the Defense Intelligence Staff, we’re definitely not getting to see everything - inevitably…

I can’t say I like the idea of the destruction of these files. It seems unnecessary, unless there’s something more to it

Now that we know that certain people in the MoD want the files destroyed, hopefully this will cause them to back down and preserve them instead.
