UFO Weaponry
The new issue of Britain’s Fortean Times magazine includes an article from me that is likely to intrigue some and both outrage and annoy others.
Basically, it goes like this: for some time now I have been pursuing an intriguing story about clandestine military research to try and harness ball-lightning and utilize it on the battlefield.
Just recently, and as a result of my digging, I managed to obtain a very large amount of FOIA documentation confirming that since the late 1940s (and, intriguingly, involving early players in the so-called “Green Fireball” phenomenon that plagued New Mexico in the same time-frame) there has indeed been an absolute wealth of official research undertaken to attempt to control - and perhaps even create - ball-lightning.
It’s clear from the files (as well as from studying the means and methods behind the way in which the phenomenon might be used), that it would be very easy indeed for those involved in the project to either replicate genuine UFO phenomena, or - more intriguingly - create UFO-like events for stage-managed, psychological warfare purposes.
To what extent the work of this project might have a bearing on some of the more perplexing UFO cases and incidents on record is, of course, admittedly a matter of conjecture and controversy. However, I now feel that (as I have felt for a number of years about Roswell) with respect to some of the more well-known cases involving the military in particular, we might need to look a little closer to home for the answers, and not to the stars for DNA-obsessed little men with big black eyes…
