I waiver on this issue. Do I think the public has the right to know our government is activity involved in alien contact and UFO research? Yes. But, do I believe that certain companies or individuals should have access to the seemingly overwhelming alien technology? NO!

I'm with you on your above message, Sage. I've seen the proof to justify my reasons to believe some of the so called tales. Sorry, I am unable to show the proof; maybe, thats why I am still alive. I may be laughed at and become a laughingstock of the world contender; but, in my many experiances of reality the laugh will be on those that hold lies as truth. Even if in my time the real truth of ufo's etc surface, I for one have learnt that a white lie will if fed will become just as dark as the devious mind(s) it comes from. Lying has never protected anyone; except, from learning the truth.

"When does lying or misrepresenting the truth help to understand, or protect the people about a subject when it is held in secretum"

...It does not which is my point exactly and that is why the analogy of the 1930's War of the Worlds panic for keeping things a secret is flawed.

Whether those who work for the Government who are in-the-know can tell the Truth or the Lie, is irrelevant. What is far more relevant is how the Government, which has a vast history of incompetence in intelligence matters, has been flawlessly keeping a flying saucer invasion completely hidden from the public for fifty years or more? Why the sole exception that is completely out of character? It just does not add up. Here we are, discussing the reasons for why something is being kept secret, when it cannot even be proven that any secret exists to begin with or that the Government could make one flawless exception to the rule of their inability to competently deal with intelligence matters.

If there is anything being held in secret, first come up with some actual proof that something is being held in secret, then start making up all these fantastic reasons for the secrecy, otherwise we will wind up using one make believe storytale to support yet another make believe storytale, and thereby remain the laughingstock of the world.

When does lying or misrepresenting the truth help to understand, or protect the people about a subject when it is held in secretum. There is good reason the truth will possibly not come to air. With all the lying from these so called protectors and coveruppers they have not only alienated themselves; but, they prevent the truth and the spiritual growing up of the people of the planet. With all the misrepresentation they force on the masses do any of you actually believe they are even able to tell the truth good or bad. My bet is they are the breeders of disharmony and have no ones best intrests at heart; except, their own and their egos' to boot.

In Daniel's key point upon which his whole argument rests, he misrepresents what happened during the broadcast of War of the Worlds. The only reason there was any panic was because a minority of people believed they were being ATTACKED by aliens -- which is much different from just being VISITED by aliens as we allegedly are today. So if instead of broadcasting War of the Worlds, Orson had broadcast Make Love not War of the Worlds, you would have had that same minority that were out there panicking during War of the Worlds, out in the streets singing praise to the aliens.

In reality, if there were any visitors, they have demonstrated time and time again that they are not a threat to us in any way, shape, or form. Why fear something that has never meant any harm to us? Why keep something so benign a secret? There is no logical reason to either fear or hide something that has never posed a threat to us.

Wow! what a great article, thanks Daniel! And don't worry, if there's a field of study that's in desperate need of thinking outside the box and considering ALL possibilities, it is Ufology.

Nick --

Appreciate the note.

I've gotten a little bit of feedback on the article along the lines that I'm committing some kind of blasphemy by suggesting this may have actually been the right thing to do at the time.

Ah.

This reaction (in my mind) seems to reflect the tone I've seen a lot in various forums, to unconditionally demonize all of our leaders. This may be the fashion of the times, but this is throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

My perception of people who move into positions of high authority, the real movers and shakers, is that they are in a sense a different breed. These are people who have been entrusted with managing up to thousands of people and making decisions that effect the fates of millions. I worked for a while under a retired admiral who had been responsible for all strategic nuclear weapons for the Navy. I didn't get to know him very well, but he actually had a very good sense of humor and appeared to be a well-rounded person.

Not that these folks can't make mistakes, or even abuse their authority, but it implies a level of ability and inner toughness that few people aspire to.

I personally cannot imagine being able to function effectively with that kind of responsibility, yet obviously there are people who do. If there indeed was something like Majestic Twelve, the individuals on it were probably more of this caliber than the "demonizers" would ever care to admit.

Thanks again,
