UFO Gigs

Having spent last week at the annual UFO Congress, I figured that this week might be an ideal time to alert people (those who are interested, of course!) to a couple of forthcoming events. If you’re in Dallas this weekend, I’ll be lecturing for the Dallas-Fort Mufon Group on sunday on the subject of Crop Circles. Check out their website for details.

Then on the weekend of April 21-22, the “Retro UFO Spaceship Convention” returns. Greg went to this last year and said that a great time was had by all. The Retro gig is a unique one in the sense that it harks back to the days of the 1950s and 60s and to the accounts of the Contactees - not surprising given that the event is held at the site of George Van Tassel’s Integratron at Giant Rock, California.

Among the speakers are Frank Stranges and the Rev. Robert Short - the latter who I’ve bumped into several times at Laughlin (indeed, he was there last week), and he’s a memorable and entertaining character with some great stories to tell from his more than half a century involvement in ufology.

So, what else will be going on at Giant Rock? Well, there will be a tour of the Integratron; a “Tesla Demonstration;” and much more, by all accounts - including more speakers who are to be added to the roster.

Space is limited to 199 people, however, so if you want to attend, make it fast. Contact the organizers at retroufo@gmail.com

Nick, some of the names of the so-called ’speakers’ you refer to sound a tweaky bit suspicious to me - almost cover name-like.

I mean, a lecturer at a UFO convention supposedly called ‘Frank Stranges’ - outrageous!

And as for the Reverend Alabaster - sorry, ‘Robert Short’…

I mean, do THEY really think we’ll be fooled into thinking because this guy’s supposedly called Rev. ‘Bob Short’ he’s giving his lecture because he’s SHORT of a BOB?

Isn’t it in fact the case, not only is the Rev. Short indeed inordinately SHORT but the reason he’s called ‘BOB’ is due to the way he moves about with a peculiar bobbing motion due to having an huge bulbous head with enormous black staring eyes suspended on a titchy grey-skinned body?

And isn’t ‘Frank Stranges’ really one of the FRANK ’strangERS’ from The Stars* here either to tell us the truth about ourselves, or deceive us into reaping our own supposedly highly deserved self-destruction?

We want the truth, Nick, we want the truth!

(Even if it’s only I’m talking my usual load of b*ll*cks!)

*The Stars: that ye olde englishe style pubbe just down the road from the authentic Cajun hillbilly shack you like to call home.

    Alan:

Coincidentally, I was once going to write a humorous piece on people in ufology with odd and unusual names (innane things like that amuse my strange mind from time to time).

Well, there is an English pub we hang out in but it’s not called the Stars. And how did you know about our little Cajun shack? Have you ever eaten Gumbo? A wonderful Cajun meal that we have all the time.

To refer to Rev. Short as “a memorable and entertaining character” is indeed an understatement. My wife and I had dinner with The Shorts (Bob and Shirley) one time and it was a surreal experience–to be sitting in a pizza parlor as Bob went on about Motherships and ET’s like they were the neighbors nextdoor. Good times…

I’ll be attending Retro UFO again this year, this time as a member of the “media”. But I may also speak there, as well.
