The X-Conference
The Washington Post on last weekend’s X-Conference:
Federal law limits the participation of resident aliens in the political process. But it is silent on the role of extraterrestrial aliens.This loophole has not been lost on the life forms who arrived on these shores aboard flying saucers with little more than the antennae on their backs. After years of suffering without suffrage, these beings are now seeking to play a role in the 2008 presidential campaign.That, at any rate, is the considered opinion of the Paradigm Research Group, which held a news conference at the National Press Club yesterday to demand that presidential candidates support a “truth amnesty” to end the “government-imposed truth embargo on the facts confirming an extraterrestrial presence.”

I’m sure Stephen Bassett will be used to the usual ‘hatchet job’ that the Washington Post do. And to be honest, I never really expect press opinions to change too much.
Now, I have to admit that I do like Bassett and that he makes the effort more than most. The trouble is, no matter how many in-roads he makes with whatever presidential hopefuls, etc… I’m just too pessimistic to think that he’s doing anything other than trying to plait fog.

Seems to me Bassett would have gotten more ‘attention’
if he’d snagged former Gov Symington for this,
and Daniel Sheehan ( who was at the conference),
also turn the mic over to Cheryll Jones
( former newswoman with excellent ’stage presence’,
conspicuously absent here) ?
Plain and simple, these folks are already ‘known’ in the news,
while locally Bassett is the ‘UFO candidate’, not exactly taken seriously
by the media , KWIM. Best advice for him would be to step back…

and Paradign should have
‘known’ he would be covering this and been
prepared. It’s kinda like the
‘emperor has no clothes here’ situation….
I was at the X-conference Sat.and
from what I saw of “Fastwalkers” was excellent,
(but Niles is a bit too much…).

Whatever happened to…

I will say again (YAWN) that I don’t care what the skeptics think - if I did, instead of just posting the story I would also have posted a long commentary from me addressing the skeptical comments in the article.
The fact that I did not post my own views is surely evidence that I couldn’t be bothered to deal with the skeptical view contained within!
However, my own personal views aside, this is also a legitimate news story that would be of interest to people in ufology.
I figured that probably people who visit the site would find it interesting. It took me 2 minutes to post it, so I posted it.
People can read it and comment if they wish. But, again: the fact that I posted it without comments from me addressing the skeptics is evidence that I don’t care about their views.
But that doesn’t give me the right to prevent other people seeing the data if it’s a newsworthy story too.

The fact that you bothered to read what the skeptics had to say is evidence that you care what they had to say. It does not matter whether you commented on what they said or not. It is just an observation.
Speaking of observations, I notice that the skeptics also claim to not bother nor care what the believers have to say, yet they bother to listen and read to the believers and care enough to post what the believers have to say.
