The Kecksburg UFO
As this story shows, the Kecksburg “crashed UFO” of 1965 is in the news again. I’m certainly not an expert on this case; however, based on the extensive material I’ve read on the affair, if the full and unexpurgated facts do ever surface into the public domain, I would not be at all surprised to find out that it turned out to be Soviet space debris that was found, and that - at the height of the Cold War - was viewed as being crucial to the work of US defense and intelligence experts. But, as I said, I’m no expert on Kecksburg, and I await the results of this latest development with interest.

I think you’re right about the Soviet space debris, except that it might not have been so much debris as a deliberate re-entry that went off track. That would certainly explain the security apparatus’ interest and their desire to keep it quiet. They might even find a UFO angle useful.

“Kean said Friday that she sued NASA rather than the Army because the space agency a decade ago released some relevant documents on the case.”
Which relevant documents are they referring to?

RPJ:
NASA released a few pages of material a couple of years ago on Kecksburg. But there was no smoking gun, and it was essentially useless material in terms of resolving anything or even describing anything of any substance.
