The Hawaiian UFO

I’m not ready to say that the Hawaiian UFO sighting of last friday was a genuine unknown (whatever a genuine unknown may be!) or that it will be shown to have a prosaic explanation - it’s way too early for that. But it’s a case that is certain to be discussed in-depth over the course of the next few weeks.

According to one of the witnesses, Honolulu resident Peter Hollingsworth, he had seen at around 6.20 p.m. on the night in question “these two little fireballs with a stream behind it [sic].” He added that it “looked kind of like a shooting star but it just kept going. They changed direction a few times; at first it was coming in then it turned; then it went out; then it came back again.”

While the official world flatly denies any knowledge of the affair, the U.S. military did confirm that approximately an hour later they conducted a “missile defense test” in the general vicinity. Hmmm….

Regardless of what the answer to this case does or does not turn out to be, it’s just the latest addition to a wave of encounters that have been reported in the last month.

Is this evidence of one of those seemingly long-gone “UFO flaps” that were always occurring in the 50s, 60s and 70s? Or is it the case that, in the wake of the O’Hare encounter of last November, everyone is looking skywards? Again, it’s way too early to come to a conclusion. But keep watching; just in case.

And if you want to see what has been going on in the last month that has led to claims that we are in the middle of one of those flaps, check out this map.
