The Cannock Chase UFOs are Back…
Back on August 16 I posted a story on a spate of UFO activity in the vicinity of Britain’s Cannock Chase woods - a place that is already in the news due to a flurry of weird animal encounters in the area.
Well, the UFOs are back. Here’s the latest story, with the text reproduced below:
Reports of strange lights in the sky are still troubling residents of Chadsmoor after another spate of sightings.
Eyewitnesses in the village spied another set of mysterious objects hovering over the district last weekend.
The raft of sightings follows similar reports last week and the recent announcement from the Ministry of Defence naming the Chase as an official UFO hotspot.
The latest sighting, last Sunday: soundless, molten lights’ hover in formation over the village for minutes before heading off in the direction of the Chase.
Eyewitness Wilf Miles said the lights were not like anything that he had ever seen.
“They hovered over the village in formation,” he said.
“They were without sound and they looked like pieces of molten rock, glowing. That’s the only way I can describe them.
“It looked like one was leading all the others. They stayed there for a few minutes before heading off in the direction of the Chase.
“These were not aircraft. I have been a sceptic about this sort of thing all of my life. But I know what I saw, and it was not something easily explained.”
Witnesses have also reported their experiences on websites dedicated to unusual sightings.
One report on website Mystic UFO reported a similar incident last week, the witness and his girlfriend had spied lights in the sky from their flat on the edge of the Chase.
“It definitely was the shape of a cod-liver oil tablet but the colour of fire and quite bright,” he said.
“She said that it stood still for a bit, then descended rapidly.”
The Chase has a long history of paranormal activity. In 1991, respected American UFO researcher Leonard Stringfield claimed an mysterious craft had crashed over the forestland.
Stringfield made a reference in his report to the alleged crash of a UFO in early 1964 on the fringes of the Chase.
He claimed US, Russian, and British military and intelligence personnel had been tracking the object before it plummeted to earth.

Jason:
I actually know quite a lot about Black Dog stories of the Cannock Chase. Coincicentally, I wrote an article on this very subject midway through last year for “Fate” magazine. Extracts from the article can be found online at the “Fate” website at this link:

Also, I’m working on 2 new books right now that deal with encounters with strange creatures on the Cannock Chase.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the reply, very interesting!
My wife often talks of an encounter with a large great dane sized dog with red eyes. This happened some 25-30 years ago at her parents house on the edge of Cannock Chase. The dog just stood and looked at her. The link to death was a previous tennant of the house killed himself in a garage that once stood on the area where the dog was standing. The memory of this is still as clear today as the night it happened. I will contact you again when a get chance to speak to someone who saw a strange creature up by the telecom tower. Cannock Chase goes much deaper than Panthers, UFOs and big foot.
thanks again
Jason
