Stuart Miller and UFO Blogging
I’m pleased to see that Stuart Miller, friend and fellow-Brit, has set up a blog to promote his forthcoming Alien Worlds magazine.
As many of you may know, Stuart runs the first-class UFO (and general weirdness) news-site, UFO Review. Always opinionated and willing to speak his mind, regardless of whether it offends people or not (and which is exactly how things should be), Stuart has made major contributions to Ufology in the last few years, and I’m looking forward to his forthcoming, new project.
Check out his blog, where you’ll already find a couple of thoughtful and insightful posts, along with a photo of Stuart and the somewhat unique deputy-editor of his new mag.
And as Stuart himself says at the blog: “I am a cynic and a pessimist and a generally miserable all round bastard. I admire great intellect and skilful writing. I am drawn to volatile people and despise reserve, tact, and good taste. Flamboyance and neurotic hysteria is all.”
In other words, Stuart’s a top bloke, as we say in the UK.
And, like me, he likes his cups of tea and his chocolate. Indeed, I well recall when Paul Kimball and I spoke at a conference that Stuart organized last year in England, Stuart seemed to be forever walking around with a monstrously-sized tea mug that looked to be about a foot-tall and six inches wide.
Indeed, saying that Stuart likes tea is rather like saying that Keith Richards occasionally likes to imbibe. The man is a tea fiend!
But I digress.
Seriously, check out Stuart’s blog; keep an eye open for what’s coming from the man in the near future, and keep reading his posts.

I’m posting a reply since I’ve had two large cups of tea today and almost bought chocolate to go with my first cup of tea.
Oliver Sacks states in the Oct. WIRED that while writers do not change their brain structure musicians have a larger corpus callosum.
Amazingly that 2003 MRI “high hypnotizability” study I posted back on your Brad Steiger promo also stated that a larger corpus callosum was the key to such “imaginative” states which Stuart Miller finds so intriguing.
Of course I have my own blogbook giving my music model for reality and such — but then Edmund Gurney beat me to the punch didn’t he? haha.
Dogs can be trained to smell cancer quite effectively and cancer is caused by a fungus according to a fascinating Italian medical doctor. Fungus is considered to be it’s own kingdom of life by some biologists and it’s certainly a candidate for the real “blob” if anything.
I think Stuart’s dog knows more than we are apt to believe.

Speaking of tea, I wish it wasn’t so bloody difficult to find PG Tips over hear in the US!
I did, however, find some Tetley is Publix yesterday. So, all is not lost

There’s a couple of good English food shops in Dallas that sell UK food, and a couple of good online sites too.

Interesting post! I suspect that when Stuart’s new magazine kicks off it will get a lot of interest and spark a big debate…

Nick — I read Shadow Worlds and what caught me is that the edition I had (not Anomalist) had Nandor Fodor’s name misspelled. To me Nandor Fodor is THE BEST parapsychologist so I didn’t take this as just a typo. It shouldn’t have happened! haha.
Then I searched Nandor Fodor and “right brain” and happened upon this from the “spiritworld” website:
According to Dr. Taraknath Das, quoted by G. K. Hack in Modern Psychic Mysteries at Millesimo Castle, the following curious history is handed down in India: “It is well known that the great Indian musician ‘ Tan Sen ‘ in the court of Emperor Akbar the Great, used to sing a special music, known as ‘ Dupak Rag’ which produced lightning effect. In performing for the Emperor the musician had to sit by a lake. The singer had to jump into this artificial lake to save himself from being burned and suffering from electric shock. The lightning effect was caused by the vibrations of the music.”
I’m not gonna go off on a UFO psychic music right-brain tangent….
