Secret Psychics
It has just been revealed (via the terms of the Freedom of Information Act) that in 2002, the British Ministry of Defense’s Defense Intelligence Staff conducted a secret study to determine the value, or otherwise, of psychic phenomena; such as remote-viewing.
As the story goes, the MoD had originally planned to recruit twelve “known” psychics; but when all unanimously declined, the MoD was forced to go with a number of “novice” volunteers instead. And thus the 18,000 UK Pounds study began. It was not a success, however.
According to the MoD, around twenty-five per-cent of the participants managed a “close guess” of the contents of a variety of “sealed brown envelopes” - which included pictures of a knife; Mother Teresa; and an “Asian individual.” The rest of the experiments, it seems, provided little in terms of success.
A spokesperson for the MoD said: “The remote viewing study was conducted to assess claims made in some academic circles and to validate research carried out by other nations on psychic ability. The study concluded that remote viewing theories had little value to the MoD and was taken no further.”
I predict that this will most likely provoke an intense debate on the part of both those that support and deny the reality of remote viewing.
