Return of the MIB?

Remember those pesky MIBs: those odd-looking, zombie-like souls decked-out in black suits, black hats, black ties and, of course, the obligatory black sunglasses? Of course you do!

Back in the halcyon days of Ufology (by that I mean before it all got utterly humorless, overly ego-driven and obsessed by Roswell and “leaked” documents of distinctly suspicious provenance) they were very popular and would routinely turn up on the doorsteps of hapless and mystified folk all across the USA, or would bombard them with threatening phone calls about what might happen to them if they even dared breathe a single world about their UFO experiences.

Gray Barker (see the photo below), Albert Bender and John Keel wrote about them extensively - before they were well and truly eclipsed by alien abductions, MJ12, ET implants and Area 51.

But it would seem the MIB are back. Well, maybe…

Check out this new story and this one. Phone threats, harrassment, UFOs, sinister military characters: all this nostalgia is making me want to run to my bookshelves and pull out a copy of Barker’s classic book They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers and indulge in a late-night re-read by candlelight and with a good glass of wine in-hand.

In fact, I think I will.

That kind of story really freaks me out. What is it about those people that they want to scare someone. And it will be easy to dismiss this guy as a kook because he says he’s being harassed, maybe that’s the idea.

  2. red pill junkie Says:

I feel sorry for this guy. We read the books and see the movies, but in reality we don’t know how it would be to handle that kind of psychological pressure of being intimidated.

  3. drew hempel Says:

Or we’re ALL cattle so to speak….

  4. The_Sage Says:

If we assume these stories are true, has an MIB ever made good on their promises? I do not know of any incident where an MIB made good on their promises. If I were to ever have a significant ET encounter and felt compelled to tell it to the mass media for some strange reason, and afterwards were to encounter an MIB, I would just ignore them.

In reality, I believe that MIB are in all probability hoaxes conducted by mentally unstable people or fanatics, and then the encounters are exaggerated or mythologized by the recipients.

  5. red pill junkie Says:

But then there’s the problem of ignoring the threats of a mentally unstable fanatic, Sage ;-)

  6. BenDoverEsq. Says:

This guy doesn’t sound mentally unstable to me- at least if you read the second article Nick provides a link to. That second article strikes me as credible. I don’t know- nothing too outlandish about it IMO.

  7. red pill junkie Says:

Ummm… I seemed to have misinterpreted your comment Sage, sorry.

Well, maybe it is a hoax claimed by this person, although It seemed the guy kind of resented all the attention he had gotten by the media.

Too bad he couldn’t get a photo of those choppers flying over his property.

The local paper seems to be treating it an a sober and straightforward
manner. But the “Men” in Black are,
like the phenomena they move in concert
with, are mighty tough to pin down.

As for them ‘making good on their
promises, I vaguely recall a few cases
in the literature that suggest that
they did exactly that, but thats
hardly conclusive. All I really know is that the whole thing is a puzzler-the
MIB thing seems to lurk in that borderland of Ufology where high strangeness is the order of the day…

    I admit I haven’t read Barker’s “THEY
KNEW TOO MUCH…” but am drawing on
what I remember Keel writing about
MIBs and their kindred in “THE MOTHMAN
    PROPHECIES”

  9. North_66 Says:

Intimidation using aircraft at night seems risky, stupid, incredibly expensive and completely over the top and more than a little unnecessary for the situation. 4 helicopters hovering low to the ground at night near a jumpy, almost certainly armed farmer seem like a good idea? The risk to reward ratio just doesn’t add up in this situation.

  10. drew hempel Says:

I won’t say anything about $2000 toilet seats.

  11. ForbiddenDisclosure Says:

The historical mystique surrounding Men in Black is one of halcyon, almost warm and nostalgic, proportion - that is, until you find yourself face to face with one or a group of them.

The quest for knowledge regarding UFOs’ is one of the hottest topics searched on this system of global union, the Net, but gathering knowledge weighted against irrefutably proving their existence are worlds apart.

While some may wish for such an encounter to prove that MIB exist beyond all doubt, thus validating their personal belief, others have had very real and personal encounters which have been everything but enlightening.

For the hobbyist’s part, it may simply be a matter of curiosity that, at some point, may turn to a significant interest or change to an obsession. Obsession or not, most researchers will remain out of harm’s way because they can prove nothing. Beware, though, those of you who may find yourself in a position to offer incontrovertible proof to the world.

Some have been told; lead to believe, been left utterly convinced that MIB roam the halls of accountability with impunity, that they are answerable to no one and, unthinkably, are exceedingly able and willing to carry out terminal threats. At this point the giggle factor is gone, replaced with throat-tightening and paradigm-shattering terror that has followed and found those who can provide undeniable proof.

At this point it is important to ask, who has provided such proof? Certainly, there exists a staggering collection of anecdotal and government documentation, but nothing irrefutably compelling - in short, no one.

Does this mean that such proof does not exist? No. It is more likely that those who had care and control of such evidence have been stopped short of public presentation. Why? The answer may very well sit with Men in Black.

It has been said that *they* don’t care what you do, say or write, but *they* are terminally interested in what you can prove.

Many thanks for this - great comments and insight. There are some creepy aspects to the whole MIB thing - occult-like even.

  13. North_66 Says:

Yes, that was a very thought provoking comment and rang completely true. It’s not hard to imagine that in modern UFO times some unfortunate souls may have had this harrowing attention focused on them.

What is missing here is the understanding or true knowledge of the forces at play or what is at stake. Without this understanding we cannot truly know or even guess at the motivations of such a force nor judge them absolutely.
