I met Roy Thinnes at Roswell a couple of years ago--you're right, a nice guy and until now he offered the only available showings of the old series. Another program by the same production compnay (Quinn Martin), called the FBI, used Mark Felt as a consultant. Felt is now identified as Watergate's "Deep throat".
