Global warming is happening and there's absolutely nothing we can do to resist it. Is human created air/water pollution contributing to it? Possibly but there's just so little unbiased scientific data that the brand new science of climatology
(younger than UFO studies) that it borders on the absurd. From an environmental stand point, it just makes good sense in every sense of the word to limit our pollution to a minimum. The latest hole in the myth that human activity is the prime cause of global warming is a recent article that CO2 increases lag behind temperature rises by about 1000 years. Here's a link:

If I were an alien looking for prime examples of humans, I would be kidnapping Americans but probably Amazonian tribesmen or some other hunter-gatherers because we certainly aren't what I call prime physical specimens. :)

I try to study the global warming issue by looking at the data rather than listening to the political hype of both sides.

what I see is that the warming is rather mild, and nowhere near the hype of the headlines (worst on record, catastrophic, etc). Also when something happens like when Nasa is forced to revise their temperature figures down, (as they did recently) it doesn't generate the same kind of hype (not quite the worst on record anymore)

Yes warming will cause problems for some areas of the world, but it will bring benefits to others. It's something we can adapt to, it would be worse if the planet were cooling. I think the elites understand this, and use the "catastrophic global warming" issue to bring themselves to power (look how most of those countries fail to meet the Kyoto goals that they said was just so crucial to have).

I think that's a far more likely scenario than "they are hoping to be rescued by aliens"

UV:
As far as the truly unexplained UFO cases (and other Fortean events) are concerned, I'm very much in accord with Keel's views.

Keel and Vallee are two of those who have come closest to the truth, I think.

For a good look at what's really going on, I'd suggest a read of Rebirth of Pan; Messengers of Deception; The Spirit Molecule; and Mothman Prophecies - among various others.

One thing is for certain - the world just in my time has become a continually mean spirited place. People just do not care about their fellow man. Selfishness and ignorance is sickeningly rife.

The views in the article seemed to reflect some of what John Keel is talking about in "The Mothman Prophesies." And for that matter both are somewhat similar to your views, Nick.

What do you think of Keel? Is he, as the say, a stand-up bloke? I'm currently reading "Mothman..." and that's some amazingly wierd stuff that was happening back then, if it is to be taken at face value.

Mmmmm... isn't this the plot of a Charlie Sheen's Sci Fi movie?

http://imdb.com/title/tt0115571/

I don't know. One does not need to invoke a secret conspiracy between elite humans in high places of power, and malignant aliens, to explain the disregard of the threat of Global Warming shown by some companies and governments.

It can easily be explained as a "I-don't-give-a-rat's-ass" attitude. Some people are only able to focus on their immediate needs, and as long as it is in their best interests, don't bother about the consequences or if they affect other people. That's the reason people park their cars on double lanes causing traffic jams, throw garbage on the street instead of waiting to find a proper place of disposal, and smoke on clearly forbidden zones. It's a me-first attitude, and as long as I have my SUV, my mansion with a heated pool, and my big-ass plasma TV, they couldn't care less about the kind of world future generations will inherit 50-100 years from now; and I don't think you can blame that on the aliens or the devil or whomever dark inffluence we can come up with as an outside culprit.

Sometimes people (and governments) are like those horses in buggy-carts that have this things on their heads (what do you call them?) that help them keep their focus on the road but does not let them see the big picture...

PS: Yes, I'm aware of the still current debate between the validity of global-warming worries, I know some people question the conclusions reached by the IPCC (which haven't still been released to the public at large). I only wanted to discuss the subject of global warming as it is related to the article. To discuss global warming in general should perhaps be left for other more suitable forums.
