Alien Worlds Cometh
The official launch of Stuart Miller’s new magazine, Alien Worlds, is only a few days away, and promises much.
It will be good to see a magazine on UFOs, alien life, etc., available on the newsstands once again. Several years have gone by since UFO Magazine closed down following the tragic death of its editor, Graham Birdsall, and there is no real UFO presence in the UK media, the Net aside.
Issue one contains an interview with Dr. David Clarke that looks to be a good one. Here’s what Stuart has to say as a taster:
“While in America in the 50s and 60s, the Contactee movement held sway, in England what was happening was a mixture of high camp, utter eccentricity, and the growth of a social movement that we now look back at with dewy eyed fondness. Pre-Internet romanticism coupled with an innocence of purpose and belief, the British love affair with the UFO surpassed class and thrilled the country with its mystery and intrigue.
“In this captivating interview with Dr. David Clarke, co-author with Andy Roberts of Flying Saucerers; A Social History of UFOlogy, he affectionately retraces the early years and the bizarre things people got up to in their pursuit of The Truth.
“We look at some of the personalities that dominated the scene, their character and motivation, and why UK interest in UFOs was so different from the American version. David also explains at some length his own views on the subject, how he got drawn in, his plans for a UFO archive, and why on some occasions he ‘cops’ it from both sides of the UFOlogical fence.”
