A Crop Circle Maker Speaks

Previously at this blog I have commented on the Crop Circle-making activities of a good friend of mine in the UK named Matthew Williams. As Matt’s views on the issue of Crop Circles have constantly been distorted by those who wish to see him as a mere “hoaxer,” I figured it was time to clarify for people what Matt really thinks about Crop Circles.

In an interview with Matt, here’s what he told me:

“I believe that the human Circle makers may be guided by a connection to a higher intelligence, a gestalt or group mind; and the symbols that are put down are deep-routed subconscious expressions. This would explain why some telepaths or psychics claim to have seen Crop Circle designs before they appear – because we are all dialed into the same group-mind ‘internet.’

“The synchronistic events which happen each year in the unfolding designs that the Circle makers come out with are often remarked as being too much of a coincidence. Circle designs have been repeated in different parts of the country by teams who didn’t share designs beforehand. There have even been teams who have gone out on the same night to the same field, made designs, not knowing the other team was present, and their designs have had similarities. The chances of this happening, without planning, are slim; so it would appear that something paranormal is working for the Circle makers.

“Why is it that Circles have power? I know that crop is a living medium. Unlike any other type of canvas that an artist may use, crop has a life-force energy which, when used on such a large scale, makes crops blend natural Earth-energy magic with human-energy magic. What Crop Circle makers may have rediscovered is the ancient art of natural magic – working with large emblems as part of the energy system of the Earth.”

Indeed, we should not dismiss the human circle-makers. People like Matt are not fakers or hoaxers. Rather, they are, perhaps ironically, the key to understanding the Crop Circle puzzle and its relationship to us.

    Nick,

Nice to see you follow up on your comments to my post about the interaction between circle makers and “something else.”

Williams’ comments sort of make you think about what was going on with ancient “Indian” mounds, giant earthwork figures and the lines at Nazca and elsewhere.

    Hi Nick,
I find it difficult to understand why crop circles made by Human Beings are regarded as something less meaningful than those described by other agencies of the Great Unconscious. Some years ago I wrote an article on my website about this very subject. The Gift
    http://www.ellisctaylor.com/thegift.html

That said, I have watched a video of Matthew Williams on youtube where he says that the 7/7 East Field formation was comitted by people known to him. As you must know, Winston Keech filmed the formation ‘as it happened’. I’ve seen it. Win showed it to me, and there ain’t nobody making that circle. Why MW would want to, or feel the need to, decry this awesome evidence of otherworldly, or at least non-physical,construction is a question I am asking.

    Hey Ellis

I think why the human angle is looked down on is simply because certain people want to believe it’s connected with aliens and anything that undermines that view has to be wrong. That may sound like a generalisation; however, I have seen countless people standing in crop circles (particularly when I used to go down to Wiltshire at the height of the controversy in the late 80s and early 90s), asking questions about “the aliens” and why “they” make circles etc.

Belief is a powerful thing, and when people say things that go against that belief they (the believers) get very defensive.

I’m seeing Matt in 3 weeks time and I have made a note to ask him about the 7/7 formation, and get a definitive statement from him on all aspects of it. I’ll post what he has to say here.

    Hi Nick,
I hear what you are saying, and I agree with you, but I don’t see any reason why crop formations couldn’t be made by aliens too. What are these balls of light that are reported (and not reported) that are witnessed making some crop circles? Might they be alien? Of course. We don’t know what these balls of light are yet.
It was witnessing a ball of light make a crop circle in the 90s that inspired Winston Keech to spend a week each year, for the next 10 years or so, trying to capture, on film, another crop circle being made by a ball of light. (He still hasn’t achieved that.)
I’ll be very interested to hear what Matthew williams has to say about this latest claim of his. I’ve spoken to Win and have heard his side (backed up by video evidence).
I’m starting to feel that your readers might think that I’m on some sort of crusade. I’m not, other than when something as profound as this, that I know to be true is dismissed or ignored, (by mainstream press too, of course - why’s that, ask yourself?)it blights our understanding of true reality and the journey every one of us is making.
Nick, do you think you could speak to Winston too? If you need his contact details then please email me. My address is on my website.
    Cheers.

This reminded my John Michell’s New View Over Atlantis book that seems to be his most successful. He read my research at the FortFest in Bethesda, MD, back in 1997 and he told me that it was fascinating. He has stated the same about Richard Health’s “Sacred Number” book which seems to take Michell and Gerald Hawkin’s crop circle research to a new level — how the mathematics has a higher dimensional bridge.

Video technology — the explosion of Electronic Medium communication or whatever — maybe just as critical in the crop circle scene, as this convergence of quantum chaos with ancient mythology causes matter to be “charged” with intention, manifesting sort of like Ted Serios’ work with photographs….

  6. Nick Redfern Says:

    Hi Ellis

It could be aliens. However, one thing to bear in mind is that although they don’t like to talk about it for the most part, numerous human circle makers have experienced weird phenomena in the formations they personally made.

Matt W has seen the Balls of Light and even experienced missing time in a man made formation. That’s why he believes we’re dealing with something that involves humans, interacting with the landscape and natural magic and the Earth itself.

    I will indeed contact Winston.

  7. Ellis Taylor Says:

    Hi Nick,
I realise that MW has to be cautious about what he says but unfortunately, because it’s never him (always someone he knows), everything he says about who is making CCs now is, at best, hearsay.
MW will be proved wrong with his claims regarding the 7/7 EF formation.
Winston is a shy, intelligent and generous man with the utmost integrity, as you will discover. He has managed to capture, on film, something truly amazing.
Obviously it is a threat to some - hence all the hooha! and nonsense claims and derision from people who would do well to wait till they’ve seen the evidence. (That’s me saying that.) Win just wryly smiles. He’s heard it all before, and besides, he KNOWS that what he has captured is 24+ carat true.

  8. Nick Redfern Says:

    Ellis

With respect, it’s not all hearsay with Matt. I can tell you one specific reason why Matt has been cautious about revealing the names of circle makers and their specific designs.

It’s actually very simple: there are certain people in the Crop Circle community that want to see the human circle makers (or hoaxers as they call them) prosecuted for causing criminal damage.

They are just looking to have people outed so they can then shop them to the cops. Hence the reason for caution that some of the circle makers have re disclosing names etc.

Following on: there is demonstrable evidence that Matt is a highly skilled circle maker and whose work - for me, at least - shows that we need not bring aliens into the equation.

For example, did you know that in 2002 Matt was flown to New Zealand by Japanese TV and was given permission to make crop formations in fields as a demonstration of how me made the one that got him busted by the police?

He made the formations at night, in darkness.

Here’s the link to the TV show and formations he made.

I’m not saying aliens couldn’t be involved; however, when we can prove (as per the Japanese TV show and accompanying night-vision film taken by the crew of Matt making the formations) that people like Matt make highly complex formations in complete darkness, why the need to suggest an ET component?

Matt himself has had numerous weird experiences in human-made circles. If, as he believes there is a connection with earth magic and ritual, then even if the formation that Winsto filmed is utterly genuine and Matt is wrong, it’s only a leap of faith that this means it has to be ET. It could still be further evidence of Matt’s theory - the magic and ritual angle combined with earth energies.

  9. Ellis Taylor Says:

    Hi Nick,
    With respect too.
Yes I am aware of Matthew’s past crop circle making and that there are people who would like to see CC makers banged up. That’s what I was attempting to hint at in my opening sentence.
I agree with the “magic and ritual angle combined with earth energies” suggestion but I think it goes further than that. It’s a consciousness thing, as was written in my article, ‘The Gift’, that I mentioned in my first post - Which, of course means that not only might aliens be making some crop circles but human beings too. All manner of makers are possible; some of which we may never even of dreamed of. Personally I don’t think it matters who, or what, physically makes the circles. What is more important, for me, is who, or what, motivated that agency to make it and why.
Nick, I’ve had a lifetime of interactions with otherworlds and otherworldy beings. Because of this I have a different perspective than I would have if I hadn’t had them. I’ve seen and heard the things that Matthew says he has seen and heard, and in more places than crop circles - as I don’t doubt Matthew has too.
Just to clear things up though, I am not saying that aliens made this circle (I don’t think Win is either. He’s a scientist, an open minded one.) I don’t know what is making it but whatever, or whoever, it is it is not visible. The crop just lays down, in what appears to be a predetermined design, with the most beautiful gentle flowing motion.

I’ll have to leave it here Nick. Thank you for your time, and your thoughtful and patient responses.

I look forward to hearing the outcome of your talks with Matthew and Winston.
    Cheers
