We've lost so many good scifi/fantasy authors in the last 5 years that I'm afraid to pick up a decent novel these days out of fear that they'll kick off soon. The list is absolutely staggering. David Gemmel, Robert Jordan, Octavia Butler and the very last of the great ones Clark. The last of the Pioneers will be sorely missed.
