Elvis: My Claim to UFO-Hollywood Fame

Lon Strickler of Phantoms and Monsters has a post up about Elvis Presley’s interest in UFOs. Strickler notes that Elvis had seen many UFOs during his lifetime, and so did his father Vernon the night Elvis was born. Lon notes that Michael Luckman, author of Alien Rock: The Rock ‘N’ Roll Extraterrestrial Connection wrote that “Elvis was later visited by aliens when he was a child.” Strickler ends his post with an interesting comment about psychic Margo Blu who had had contact with Elvis and has written a book about those contacts.

Growing up, I never got Elvis; I didn’t like him, even though my best friend and god sister loved him. I mean, she was Elvis crazy! I didn’t like, or “get” Elvis as a pre-teen, or as a teenager. I was a hippie, what did I know from Elvis? In my teens, I was working at the Los Angeles Free Clinic. We had a fundraiser; a day or so later, the director announced that the clinic was going to shut down for a few hours, because Elvis was coming in to make a donation. A lot of people were very excited, but I was too cool. Elvis, what a bourgeois tool, I thought. So there I am, at the reception desk, bored. Big deal, Elvis. Hot day in L.A., lights off to keep cool, waiting. . . finally, the arrival. First a short and round man walks in. Smoking a cigar, wearing a brown double breasted suit. Announces that Elvis is here. Two beautiful, skinny fashionable women walk in. Then Elvis. The two more beautiful, terribly skinny, fashionably dressed women come in after him.

As soon as I saw Elvis, in the flesh, everything changed. To my surprise, I almost fainted from the vibe; this was Elvis! He emanated a powerful energy; calm, sweet, but incredibly strong. He was very polite, shook my hand, and said, in a surreal understated moment, “Hello, I’m Elvis Presley.” Here he was, standing in front of me, in the hot L.A. afternoon, wearing a black cape, black turtle neck, black leather pants, black gloves bedecked with huge jeweled rings, carrying a black cane and wearing large orange lensed aviator style glasses. I walked him back to the office. While Elvis was in with the clinic director, his chauffeur allowed myself and another girl in the office to explore the limo; which was an all white Mercedes with white shag carpeting, color television, tinted windows, the works.

After that, I started listening to his music and now, of course, I have a great appreciation for Elvis, and feel honored that I had that small brush with fame moment with him.

Well, that had nothing at all to do with UFOs, but it was a nice moment and it’s good to know Elvis had such an active interest in UFOs and ET!

LOL that was a VERY cool Elvis moment, Regan! It also links with the UFO phenomenon IMO because it kind of goes to show that cool events will only happen to those who are not really looking for them —how many times have I stood up under the starry night yelling “HERE I AM, DAMMIT!!” :-P

PS: This link with Elvis, UFOs and Margo Blu has also a nice reference in our modern pop culture, with the Disney Character of Stitch —who is of course, BLUE ;)

  2. Kenn Thomas Says:

Although my only Elvis Presley moment came when I attended his funeral, I have always admired his intelligence. In the movie Wild In The Country he plays a country guy in trouble of with the law. As a condition of his parole, he must submit to psychological tests that he says “make me look like someone who reads comics and sucks from a jug.” That’s Elvis talking to the world about how he expected to be regarded by many, with a tacit nod that it’s not like that at all. His UFO experiences add to the credibility of the phenomenon.

I had an Elvis encounter as a small child at of all places Graceland his home in Memphis.

I would like to say I met him but I did not.

    But, he met me.

He was talking to me from behind his front door while talking to his uncle on the phone from the gatehouse.

He asked his uncle what my name was and his uncle asked my father who was standing with him at the gatehouse.

I and my older brother had been given permission to go up to the front of the house and look around.

His uncle saw me standing at the front door and thought I may knock on it so he called the house.

Elvis happened to be walking by the phone in the foyer headed upstairs and answered it.

I heard someone talking from inside, but did not realize they were talking to me.

Elvis was on the other side and looking at me through the fisheye peephole.

    This was in 1961.

I was just 6 years old at the time.

I remember the whole event and everything I saw there that day.
