What is the Frequency of UFO Sightings?

Space is full of life. Space travelers visit us. One out of eight people have seen or know someone they trust enough to believe that there are UFOs and alien races visiting our planet. If you want to know for sure contact me. “If you can see UFO craft every clear night with third generation military grade night vision goggles, then everything else is a lie”. All you have to do is look through the glasses!

I have some night vision goggles, but they are old.  Never seen a UFO with them and most of the time I have a hard time getting them focused enough to see anything.  However, last summer I did a few experiments using an IR filter on my video camera during the the day and I did pick up some really odd “rod” type objects that were moving far too fast to be a plane or something like that.  I hope to continue those experiments this coming summer.

Anyhow, I do find Ed Grimsley’s night vision experiments interesting and hope to some day get some better night vision equipment and do some experimenting myself.  Although, I wouldn’t be expecting to see a UFO craft on every clear night.

It seems to me that even an array of overlapping cameras that could give a full hemispheric view could be put to good use researching UFO’s in known hot spots. Like Chris O’Brien’s San Luis Valley, near Holloman and Kirtlan AFB and in Area 51’s flight path could turn up some pretty spectacular imagery even without IR filtering. You can operate/monitor these cameras remotely via the internet like astronomers are doing now with their research. The imagery can even be analyzed by software to eliminate known sources of light such as aircraft. High definition cameras have really come down in price and the days of hiding secret military aerospace craft by flying them only at night could be nearing its end. Once UAP researchers eliminate those obvious man-made objects, anything not fitting into the natural category would stand out pretty clearly. This also could used to catch glimpses of perhaps flying cryptids like the thunderbird during the day as well as daytime UAP.

Actually I have for several years now wanted to set up at least a camera on my roof. A motion detector type that would only snap a shot if something moved in the sky. I would set it up to film outside the normal plane flight paths. However, I am not sure a regular motion sensor camera would work for that and so I haven’t done it.

Motion sensors have a very short range. You can use an older computer to record the imagery on a 24/7 basis and feed it into a 1 terabyte external hard drive which will hold 2600 hours of DVD quality video. These external 1TB hard drives will cost you less than $100 these days. Old desktop computers that are capable of performing this task can be had for under $50. You could use a few cheap fixed cameras or a single expensive camera that has zoom and auto tracking that’s much more flexible.

87.543% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

How can I trust someone who invents statistics/facts out of thin air?

Even though I’ve lost much of the respect I had for Jaime Maussan, I’m still impressed with the devoted group of his followers known as ‘Los Vigilantes’ (The Watchers).

These are regular citizens that are committed to spend as much times as they can watching the skies in search of anomalous sightings. The time they spend in this endeavor would be appalling for must of us —no night-sensor cheating for them!

And, some of them do get to record interesting things with their amateur-level equipment.

The answer they always give as for why they are successful in recording these things is pretty simple and interesting: because no one else bothers to look up as frequently as they do :)

crgintx – the problem with that is I would have to go through all that footage to see if anything interesting was captured. I simply don’t have that kind of time and even if I did I am too lazy. :)

The Sage – I am not sure about 1 out of 8 people. However, in my experience most people I meet either have had some sort of ufo experience or know someone that they trust that has. Of course, they would never tell most people they know that and make me swear to not tell anyone. lol!

RPJ – Jaime Maussan has been involved in questionable cases, but the videos he gets from ordinary citizens are some of the best UFO videos I have seen. Those orb videos from back in the 1990s, taken by many different people are just awesome. Not necessarily little green men from space, but some sort of amazing anomalous activity.
