USO Bursts Out Of Ocean in Newfoundland
An elongated object trailing flames and smoke possibly shot out of the Atlantic on January 25th, startling residents of the small town of Harbour Mile. Darlene Stewart was taking photos of the sunset and managed to get a shot of something that doesn’t quite resemble a missile or rocket.
“It appeared to come out of the ocean. It was like it was in the middle of the bay” she told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Other residents saw the object as well, but there are no details on the trajectory, speed, and any sound associated with the sighting.
The sighting brings to mind the Norwegian “spiral” event of December 9th. With all the remote areas on the planet, why would any military force test something so visible in plain sight of any potential witnesses? My guess, if this is some sort of test, is that when something is seen, there is probably a purpose behind the event. Granted, the “spiral” event was so high in the atmosphere that it could be seen for hundreds of miles, but it was also strangely symmetrical and launched in the predawn hours where sunlight in the upper atmosphere would light the event in a dramatic way.

Greg,
In the UFO sense, much ado about nothing - a missile.
In the “what the hell are they doing firing missiles off of the coast of Newfoundland” sense, certainly a matter for the Canadian authorities to explain.

The first comment in the news story linked above claims it was a Frenchsubmarine launching the missile, but gives no source. In this
case, Paul, I think Candian authorities
ought to be asking for an explanation-
as Canada has no sea-launch capable submarines, nor is it likely to acquire
them.

Paul,
Maybe it just LOOKED like a missile. That’s what they WANT you to think!
(Oh well, it probably was just a rocket.)
