CE4K Author CDB Bryan Dies
Loren Coleman has an excellent write-up on the life of CDB Bryan, author of the book Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind. The volume was a sympathetic look at the famous UFO abduction conference at MIT in June of 1992. Bryan’s father Joseph was a CIA officer and NICAP board member who helped to engineer the ouster of Major Donald Keyhoe when Keyhoe turned his attention to the CIA, who he accused as a major player in a UFO information coverup. Despite his annoyance with Keyhoe, the elder Bryan apparently passed on his interest in UFOs to his son, who wrote his only book on the subject at age 59.
Incidentally, my late friend Dr. Mario Pazzaglini spoke on his studies of “alien writing” at the MIT conference. The audience questions printed in the proceedings and published in the thick volume entitled Alien Discussions are short and seemingly uninformed on the subject of alien scripts and channeled messages. This was probably because the attendees may have been put off by the “contactee” angle that Pazzaglini was pursuing. This was not the proper way to gain the scientific respect that they are still seeking, and which won’t come until someone outside of their ranks makes a bold statement backed up by repeatable and verifiable proof.
This is not likely to happen anytime soon, but Bryan’s book on the conference did make a minor wave outside of UFO fandom. Perhaps that is all that we can hope for at this point.
