Blue Spiral Baffles Norwegians

Yes, I know this has gone all over the interwebs already, but if you live in a cave or at least without access to other media besides ufomystic…
A spiralling blue streak lit up the skies over Norway on Tuesday evening. From the Daily Mail (UK):
The mystery began when a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain in the north of the country. It stopped mid-air, then began to move in circles. Within seconds a giant spiral had covered the entire sky. Then a green-blue beam of light shot out from its centre – lasting for ten to 12 minutes before disappearing completely. Onlookers describing it as ‘like a big fireball that went around, with a great light around it’ and ‘a shooting star that spun around and around’.
Speculation was increasing today that the display was the result of an embarrassing failed test launch of a jinxed new Russian missile.
The photos look surprisingly faked, but if real, the precision of the circles points to something that was probably not a failed test. Rockets going out of control are notoriously erratic, and most are built with a destruct system in the event of a mishap. What impression was this very public “failed test” designed to convey?

You mean it’s not Obama’s halo descending in advance of his Oslo speech?
I think the Russians are copping to a failed missile launch at the same time but still are not claiming responsibility. I agree, with the absence of any rocket it doesn’t look much like a failed launch.
But there are multiple images from various sources, and a video–the amateur quality of which is the only thing that doesn’t look fake about this. If it’s a hoax it’s more likely a laser cannon than photoshop.

OK, the Russians are saying that it’s one of their Bulava ICBMs. So what does that say about all the UFO footage that looks fake?

Mori covered this the other day as well, Greg, and linked some other videos
that might change your mind. It is
peculiar looking, but knowing what the
atmosphere at those latitudes can do
to light, I’m inclined to accept the
missile failure as an explanation.

That picture’s a Photoshopped “artist’s conception,” yes? It’s pretty obviously not real.
The actual video floating around that shows the spiral suggests a pinwheel. To my eye it could easily be a rocket whose guidances systems checked out soon after launch.
It is pretty weird looking. It’d give me a turn to see something light that in the sky.

Like that. Carp. Fingers failing me today.

Yes, it’s an errant missile, the Hadron collider, HAARP–anything but a UFO! I feel so much safer now that I know everything’s under control!

It sure looks fake, but the videos and other photos don’t look much different. If this is a failed missile launch, it’s the first time I’m aware of that this sort of lightshow has been recorded. I wonder what it looked like from other parts of the local northern hemisphere? The published images are all apparently from Norway and look alike.

Greg,
I’m not sure what to make of this light display, but when was the last time Russia (or any other military superpower) came out the day after a failed test of a new nuclear weapons system and said, “Oh ya, that’s one of ours. Big failure that new system. Just can’t get it right, can we?”
I read today that Russia is officially owning this event and admiting it is a yet another failure of their new nuclear missile system. This is either the world’s absolute worst case of disinformation (admitting completely that something so new in development is such an abysmal failure,) or else it is truly first rate disinformation. Which would beg the question, if it isn’t a botched missile test, then what’s being covered up with the missile test story?

So my lord Kukulcan decided to arrive 2 years earlier… and in the wrong hemisphere. Cut him some slack, will ya??
