While at the Crash Conference in Las Vegas, Peter Robbins mentioned that someone had done a caricature of me for a site that features artist impressions of UFO researchers and personalities. I didn’t think I was any list for this sort of thing, but Peter was right.

The drawings are spot on and very well done, but for some reason, “D. Rano” depicted me sitting at a microphone with a Hello Kitty face taped to a wall. Even Jerry Pippin got aliens in his portrait! Perhaps he hasn’t read Project Beta, and only knew about Radio Misterioso and my email address at hellokitty.com. Nick’s wearing a fringe-trimmed jacket and a bolo tie. I’d like to see him dressed like that at least once.

I particularly like the portraits of Charles Fort, Regan Lee and Robert Salas. Suggestions for more: Mac Tonnies and Jim Moseley. And, since he includes fundamentalist skeptic Joe Nickell, Rano could conceivably try his hand at one of the 1950s contactees (although I think he’s mainly interested in personalities who are still with us.)

Good show all around!

   Although the term “Ufologist” is loosely applied —Is Billy Meier an Ufologist??— this is a very nice collection of caricatures; and it’s an interesting mission, considering that the UFO world is filled with a pletora of disembodied voices —people you don’t recognize by their face.

   PS: Where’s Paul Kimball & Tim Binnall??
