Mac Tonnies (again) has just discovered that someone has posted the entire October 1988 UFO Coverup? Live show on youtube in eighteen segments, commercials and all as it was broadcast on KTLA in Los Angeles. I have a copy I recorded from the same station on betamax (!) but haven’t been able to convert it to mpeg.
Watch and relive the harrowing story of Betty Cash and Vickie Landrum. Chuckle at the “strawberry ice cream” comment from Richard Doty posing as government insider “Falcon.” Wonder at the stilted dialogue as guests try to read the teleprompters. Pretty bad production all around which got lots of UFO researchers pretty steamed. The “government agents” part of the program was an example of the disinfo heap that landed on ufology in the 1980s and early ’90s. The real “Falcon” sat in the audience and watched the strange scripted drama unfold.
For more background on the show, and the disparate skeins of intrigue which led to it, please consider reading Project Beta.
The Cash Landrum affair was weird and tragic but I think you might acquire more
knowledge by watching KTLA’s “Movies ‘Til Dawn”, something like “The Deadly Mantis”, LOL. Do they still play “Movies
‘Til Dawn”? I left southern Cal. as a kid in 1980.
Greg, what is that intro music you play on Radio Misterioso? It brings to mind giant ants versus army tanks.
Some of the witness testimony on the show was valuable, I guess.
The music and narration is from the opening of Plan 9 From Outer Space, which has been one of my favorite movies for a very long time. It is during this segment that pop psychic Criswell recites ” You are interested in the unknown, the mysterious, the unexplainable; that is why you are here!”
Doty was “Falcon,” Robert Collins was “Condor” on the program. This is pretty much accepted fact, although it ultimately comes from Collins and Doty themselves. The confusion comes in when people like Robert Hastings insist that Doty was Falcon because of this, and because he “admitted” to Linda Howe that he was that person. Three people have told me that Falcon was another, older man who had come out of retirement after working for the CIA for many years. I know his identity, but I am having trouble getting confirmation of the man’s name from those who should know. Perhaps that means I’m wrong! The man died in 2002. Former “Aviary” members are cagey.
BTW, Plan 9 From Outer Space — Ive never seen it. I have been on a bit of an old Sc-Fi movie kick lately too, tracking down films like ‘Quartermass and the Pitt’, ‘First Men on the Moon’, …
Paul Bennewitz was invoked on C2C a few nights ago between Noory and Dolan. That they were relying on your research and yet give no mention of Greg Bishop is scandalous.

Great! Have wanted to see this for a while.
So Doty actually WAS on the show, posing as Falcon? So Greg you say Doty was ‘posing’, while others say Doty ‘is/was’ Falcon…?
Just wanted to recap.

Guess I should check out ‘Plan 9′.
