Micah Hanks on Radio Misterioso Tonight

For some reason, I’ve been nervous about writing posts here recently (thanks for posting, Nick!) but my guest on Radio Misterioso tonight has forced me to break my silence.

Micah Hanks is the man behind the Gralien Report, co-host of the pocast Speaking of Strange, and all-around interdisciplinary pararnormalist.

Micah has sent along a list of topics he wants to talk about tonight, which includes stories of the strange “bloop” sound which was picked up by pacific ocean hydrophones in the 1990s (and which some attribute to H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulu!), psychedelics and UFO research, strange undersea cryptids, “little people” sightings around the world and working models of UFO propulsion he has been creating with Speaking of Strange host Josh Warren. No doubt a not-to-be-missed conversation.

Listen live tonight (Sunday, August 16th) from 8-10 PM PST at killradio or download the podcast at Radio Misterioso within a couple of days.

Alas, my ability to listen to podcasts
is severely constrained my the great
antiquity of my computer equipment, but
    it does sound awfully interesting,
especially the ‘Bloop’ ref. Maybe I
can get Smiles to burn me a copy…
    Luck with the show, Greg.

  2. crgintx Says:

Greg, I think that you guys should start a new field of study within science itself: subjectivity! If we’re ever going to figure out some of the stranger aspects of human/paranormal interaction, human emotional response and perhaps even physiological response needs to measured and documented. They do this with sleep studies, why not this form of human activity?

I was watching a youtube video about the UAP sighting in San Diego on 1/01/08. I’ve watched a number of these videos and in the more realistic seeming ones, the observers all seem to be very excited, almost in panic response. The 1/01/08 San Diego video was taken by to physics and engineering students from UCSD. While young, these folks don’t seem to be prone to flights of fancy yet from the video, they were plainly excited almost agitated. After 60 years of mass media bombardment of the UFO subject, you’d figure young folks would hardly react to such things but most of these videos show plain excitement.

    Great. Can’t wait to listen.

    Greg,

    Why have you been nervous?

  6. Greg Bishop Says:

    Craig,

Maybe you can download the shows overnight if you have a slow connection.

  7. Greg Bishop Says:

    Crg,

Using Micah’s lead, I was thinking of something called “theoretical ufology” which could encompass a lot.

  8. Greg Bishop Says:

    curious,

I was more uninspired than nervous, which made me reluctant to post, lest I put up something I considered unimportant or forced. I’m working out of it. Yesterday I started a new job, which may affect my ability to post regularly for awhile. Maybe not.

Listening to Micah’s discussing of the “Witching Hour” and how electromagnetic phenomena might be inhibited by solar radiation —hence they are more common at night— made me think of that phrase you included in your essay about Dr. Mario Pazzaglini for the Darklore 3 anthology:

“If you want to make light solid, show it to the moon”

…which BTW, I used as the ‘Quote of the day’ for TDG’s Thursday News briefs ;-)

PS: Why didn’t you include a picture of Mario in the essay?

  10. Greg Bishop Says:

    RPJ,

    Excellent observation!

I didn’t send a picture because I had no good ones to send. The one I used in the Excluded Middle article from 1996 was a picture Mario sent me showing him at 16 years of age!
