Here's another site with high resolution images that clears up some Martian mysteries like the so called "trees". Note what seems to be images of running liquid further down the page, and the blotchy, spotty things.

Go to this site and click on the "Mars" tab at the left, then scroll down a little and click on the "Mars Water Pages", and, 'my favourite "Lake"'. I think this is a frozen lake with a thin layer of dust on it, either that or a lake of obsidian!

IMHO, they are taking tooo long to make the case for water in Mars.

It's the kind of thing that makes me speculate that it's all part of a long-term cultural acclimatization program, so that in 20 years they'll go and say "Yep, there was life on Mars", and maybe in 100 years they'll say "Oh, and in case you're wondering, there's intelligent life out there in the Universe"; although by that time most people would probably say "Meh" and go about their business.

Of course, this speculation is trumped by the fact that in the next 10-15 years there's a good chance our Astronomers will find a second Earth —a rocky planet well inside the habitable zone of its star, with an indisputable signature of life from the spectrographic readings of its atmosphere— That finding might speed up things a bit :)
