An Artist Blogs About Close Encounters

I’ve talked to Mike Clelland a few of times at UFO meetings. He’s a quiet and thoughtful sort of guy, but his interior life has also drawn the attention of luminaries like Whitley Strieber and Mac Tonnies. Most “abductees” either stay mum about their secret lives, or write mostly predictable books about it. Clelland’s blog Hidden Experience documents some of the inexplicable episodes from his life, accompanied by strangely beautiful artwork.

Perhaps the most striking thing about Mike’s writing is his humility and honesty. His only agenda (which also comes across in person) seems to be a search for answers or maybe just a kind of personal peace by simply reporting his most inner thoughts in a public forum.

Based on his blogging style, I think an illustrated book from Clelland would be a landmark, and might communicate the so-called UFO/ alien experience on a different and deeper level than any dry account filled with hypnotic regressions.

The reason I find Mike’s work so compelling is best summed up by a quote from the sidebar at Hidden Experience:

Events can be hard to recall. Especially when these memories seem to stretch my psyche in ways that can be distressing. If these memories and events are just tiny clues, what do they point to?

I feel strongly that something is going on. But what that might be, seems beyond my ability to solve.

Mike seems to be genuinely perplexed at what appears to be happening to him, and open to many explanations. Significantly, he’s also commented on the neuron-like nature of the internet and the possibility of a developing consciousness within it. One of his most compelling posts deals with childhood memory, synchronicity, and a strange episode involving a vivid orange flash in the night sky and missing time. Don’t neglect to follow the link at the end.

He’s also a working artist with another blog called Little Boing Marks. Check it out.

Greg, any chance you will have your friend ‘Walter’ on the show again? Maybe get back into the subject of his ‘mentor’ and any information he may or may not have shared with Walter.

    Found those shows super fascinating.

(I know this is off-topic, but theres no forum here!)

    Gareth,

Walter will be on the show this Sunday night. He is on about 2/3 of the programs. Maybe you could call and ask him some questions yourself from 8-10 PM PST at killradio.org. The live studio number is (213) 252-0998.
