Conspiracy Corner

This is supposed to be a UFO blog, but every so often I come across something that is so awe-inspiring that I cannot let the surly bonds of the UFO subject constrain the quest to bring our readers new and perhaps valuable knowledge.
On Saturday night, I was talking with my friend (and first publisher) David Hatcher Childress, owner of Adventures Unlimited Press. Dave’s been into the weirdness since before many of us were even aware of it, and reminded me of a singular conspiracy theorist from the late 1970s who I’d heard of, but had somehow forgotten.
From 1975 to 1982 this man sent out “audio newsletters” to selected subscribers, detailing his revelations about various parapolitical machinations of the US and other world governments. He laid many of the planet’s ills squarely on the doorstep of the Rockefeller family, but didn’t leave out details of the Kennedy assassination (Lyndon Johnson was responsible), weather warfare, and his theory that Jimmy Carter had died and been replaced by a Carter “robotoid” sometime during his term.
While there may have been more than a little truth in what he reported over his seven year audiotape campaign, his information may have been hard for some people to take given his name, which he apparently refused to change for publicity purposes.
The man’s legal name was Dr. Peter Beter.
To make things worse, his surname was pronounced “beater.” Beavis and Butthead, take note. Now, his MIDDLE name would have been fine. Announcing himself as “Dr. P. David Beter” may have lent an air of respectability to his work, but no, each taped lecture began with a jaunty, “Hello everybody, this is Dr. Beter.”
One amazing entry for September 30 of 1977 found Dr. Beter telling us about the “Battle of the Harvest Moon,” a US/ Soviet particle beam weapon fight between the “secret Rockefeller moon base” and a Soviet crew orbiting the Earth:
By the 26th of September, American personnel at the secret Rockefeller moon base nestled in Copernicus Crater were almost ready. Their Particle Beam was almost operational–but they were too late. By late that day, the Soviet Union began bombarding the moon base with a Neutron Particle Beam. Through the night, and all day on September 27 the moon base was bombarded without mercy with neutron radiation just like that produced by a neutron bomb; and by that evening as Americans looked up at the peaceful full moon overhead known as the Harvest Moon, the last few Americans on the moon were dying of neutron radiation. America had lost the Battle of the Harvest Moon.
My friends, in 1945 America became the first nation on earth to possess an awesome new super-weapon, the Atomic Bomb; but now, it is the Soviet Union that has won the race for a new super-weapon–the Particle Beam, that could be as decisive today as the Atomic Bomb was in 1945. The Rockefellers have disarmed America while betting everything on the moon base, thinking they would win the race; but they made a terrible miscalculation–and now we will all suffer the consequences.
Most current parapolitical researchers will cite the work of people like Mae Brussell, Sherman Skolnick, Jim Marrs, David Lifton and others as examples of the giants on whose shoulders they stand, but little is remembered of Dr. Peter David Beter. Perhaps my friends Kenn Thomas and Robert Sterling can explain why Beter is seemingly ignored today. There are likely many nuggets of interest entrenched in his seemingly insane audiotapes.
Fortunately for us, the entire series of Peter Beter talks are archived here as text and mp3s. Listen at your peril, after you stop laughing at the name.

What I find most interesting about Dr Beter’s tapes, is how he describes past crisis in exactly the same terms as current crisis. Two of the greatest issues facing Americans today (or at least two of the greatest issue that the American government want you to believe are the two greatest issues facing Americans today) are terrorism and the economy. Now read Dr Beter’s description of the economy, including the stock market in AUDIO LETTER(R) No. 80 of Nov 1982,
“On Monday October 25 the Dow dropped more than 36 points, the largest one-day drop since the crash of 1929…The United States economy is fundamentally sick, and now it is having chills and fever as reflected by the Stock Market up-and-down jumps…Unemployment, as measured by the Government’s grossly understated statistics, reached 10.1 per cent in September, the highest since the Great Depression. Bankruptcies, too, have now reached a pace unequaled since the Great Depression…The Great Depression of the 1930s really began not with the 1929 Stock Market crash but with the collapse of our banking system afterward. Likewise today, it is not the chills and fever of the Stock Market that are the greatest economic danger–it is the dangerous condition of our banks”
Now read Dr Beter’s quote from Pres Ford in AUDIO LETTER(R) No. 9 of Feb 1976,
“Two days ago on February 14, 1976, Ford declared in a Florida campaign speech that he has had it with terrorism, and he proposed the death penalty for a range of terrorist offenses. Not long ago full-fledged terrorism was something most Americans tended to associate only with other countries. ‘That couldn’t happen here.’ But lately it is happening here, more and more”
That sounds almost word-for-word like an exact description of the current economic and military condition of our world today — they even use the same words and analogies to describe it! Clearly history does repeat itself.
Our economy has always been unstable so it is no wonder that history repeats itself, so based on past history, our economy most likely will recover but someday it will eventually crash and burn, just like you would expect an unstable economy to do. Yet do not fret or fear because remember, our economy is ran by people that only took over a year to realized that we had been living in a recession during the past year, before publishing that fact in the newspapers.
Before terrorism there was the Cold War. History tells us the Cold War ended years and years before it hit the newspapers, yet the American government (especially the CIA), kept telling us that Russia was getting stronger and stronger with each passing moment, when in reality they were getting weaker and weaker. Then they used the Cold War as an excuse to deprive Americans of their liberties, just like the War on Terrorism is being used as an excuse to deprive American of their liberties today. All I have to say is, fool me once — shame on you. Fool me twice — shame on me. There are a lot of people today who should be feeling very shameful.
To bring this around as to how it relates to UFOs, we are expected to believe that the military recovered a UFO in Roswell in 1947 and has kept information and technology related to that, secret for over 50 years, but the history of our government demonstrates that they are not capable of such a thing (never mind that the actual recorded events at Roswell do not even remotely support any story other then a recovered balloon). Our technological inferiority, such as the Marine Corp Osprey, demonstrates that we have not taken our technology from Roswell — unless Roswell technology was prone to crashing but in that case, why would be be stupid enough to copy technology that is prone to disaster?

Another great is Craig Baldwin’s film Tribulation 99. Conspiracy as psychedelic CIA-shaman-UFOlogy.

I wish I would have known about this guy before I registered with this site. That would have been a way cooler username.

My goodness. Dr. Peter Beter, a name from the far past. I remember clearly attending John Birch Society meetings as an invitee (I can´t explain this odyssey. I had long hair then, brown skin, obviously not the best fit for JBS view of reality). But I was treated well (this was in Seattle), and there were many people who were into his programs. I remember talking on many occasions to Tom Adams (Paris, TX) about some of Beter´s wild tales, but in restrospect, I am led to wonder about some of his claims.
The early to mid-70s in Seattle. One couldn´t help but bump into the SDS, Weathermen, Bircher´s, Black Panthers and other sundry members of the Crypto-Political zoo. I was raised listening to Mae Brussell, but Peter Beter was a few octaves above Mae and the rest.
Thx much for the link to the transcripts and mp3s. I want to take another look at Beter´s claims.
