Monster Mimics

As some of you may know, I write a regular weekly column for Mania.com called Lair of the Beasts which, as you may guess, focuses upon my other big Fortean interest: cryptozoology. Just occasionally, however, cryptozoology and ufology will cross paths - and, perhaps, the perfect example being relative to Puerto Rico’s most famous cryptid: the Chupacabras. And, on the matter of the island’s blood-sucker, here’s my latest Lair of the Beasts post on the controversy…

    Sir Nick—-

There have been reports in the past of people feeling “compelled” to drive down a certain stretch of road at a certain time—and seeing a sasquatch cross the road in front of them. Or something else well & truly odd. Do people get telepathically “summoned” to
specific places by a Trickster intelligence just to be made witness to the sight of a bizarre “something” crossing the pavement in front of them?
If so, to what purpose? Seems a real head scratcher.

How do we know that these cryptids or fortean creatures aren’t ALSO compelled to come near these remote places as much as the witnesses? Maybe the poor creatures are as startled to being there as the humans! :-)
