Chris O’Brien Interview at Radio Misterioso

Since I finally got my self together and started going through my show archives, I’ve come upon some forgotten gems. This morning for instance, I located a third interview with Chris (Mysterious Valley) O’Brien. In contrast to our two other talks, on August 27th of 2006 we discussed the connections between UFOs, cryptozoology, ghosts, and other paranormal phenomena.

Chris brought up an interesting question: Has technology been developed to tune into speech or even entire conversations which took place in the past? In other words, could spies enter a room and record speech which took place days, weeks, or even years earlier? Could archaeologists go into an Aztec ruin and using the proper equipment, hear what went on during a divination ritual or sacrifice?

Perhaps the main connecting link between seemingly disparate areas of the unknown are our concepts of time and causality. We conversed about this and more. I also have to thank Chris for originally putting me in touch with Ray Stanford, who gave us a great interview last week.

I’ve always been fascinated by the rumors surrounding the ‘chronoscope’ allegedly invented by Father Erneti, an Italian catholic priest who was something of a genius—it was considered an authority in Gregorian chants among other things— who asked the help of Scientific celebrities like Von Braun to create his machine, which he then used to take a picture of Jesus dying on the cross… or so the legend goes; a legend which seems to have been taken seriously by some members of the KGB for a while.

  2. craig york Says:

Seems to me I’ve heard of the Chronoscope, though I don’t remember
any details. Outside of that, the only
reference to such a device I’m familiar
with are from Science Fiction. TOM
    SWIFT AND HIS ELECTRONIC RETROSCOPE

is one instance, young Tom developing a
machine that ‘views’ the past of any
physical object, and there is also an
Isaac Asimov short story ( Can’t recall
the title at the moment ) that deals
with the social repercussions of a
    similar device.

    RPJ,

I’ve never heard of this! I’ll have to look it up. Thanks!

    Craig,

Of course there’s the so-called “yellow book,” which was described as a giant crystal which allowed the beholder to see any event in the history of the universe. It was first described on the “UFO Coverup Live!” show in 1988. Sounds like the AFOSI may have been reading up on Erneti.

  5. craig york Says:

I had to go back and re-read the ‘Yellow Book’ post. The description
reminds me more than a little of the
    ‘crystals’ in the first Superman
film…:) the title, on the other hand,
rings a more sinister, albeit still literary, bell-namely the horror classic
The King In Yellow, a series of
stories about a play that drives its
readers mad…but the notion of a more
    prosaic explanation, that of ‘Yellow
Book’ being a reference to the “Yellow
Pages” of your local phone book, is
probably closer to the mark-especially if this is all coming out of ‘The Aviary’.
