Rollicking Man From Mars: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download
I’ve been looking for more space and alien-themed music over the past few months, and come up with a few more. This one is so obscure it took me awhile to find out the name of the artist.
“The Rollicking Man From Mars” sounds as if it was released in the mid-to-late 1950s. The name associated with this gem is “Scotty MacGregor,” but I can’t seem to find if he was the man doing the singing or simply the composer.

Dear Sir,
Your Flying Saucer Music collection would never be complete, without adding to it ‘El Aparato’, by the Mexican group Café Tacuba (who will celebrate it’s 20th anniversary this year).
What I love about that song not only is the music and beautiful lyrics, but also that it tells the story of an Abduction, very much in the vein of the famous ‘Chupa’ incidents of Brazil in the 60s and 70s—i.e. a UFO that causes severe burns and even blindness to the experiencer). I really don’t know what was the inspiration for this particular song, though; but it’s Fortean tone is patently clear.
Here they are performing that song on MTV Unplugged. Hope you enjoy it

Note to UFO Mystic readers- turn the volume down before playing. By the way Greg, that blog is AWESOME! I’m a longtime wrestling geek so that most recent article you have up is right up my alley. Also, if you are at all interested in J-Pop you should check out the Japanese band Capsule. They started out with a Pizzicato 5 sound. Anyway, this song is so infectiously upbeat I can’t get enough of it. It’s called “Idol Fancy”:

Thanks for your link too! The group seems a little more electronica than P5 (I have 3 or 4 CDs of theirs.)
Since I’m a DEVO and Jpop fan, I’m also a huge geek on the POLYSICS (always spelled in capitals.) See one of their best here.
We saw them recently on tour when we were in Tucson, there’s a short clip of the show I took up at my flickr page.

Thanks for the link Greg. That was incredible. I had never heard of them before- can definitely see the Devo influence- the singer kinda had a Lene Lovitch/Nina Hagen sound. Very infectious tune. As for Capsule, they’ve definitely moved in more of a electronic direction, but if you listen to some of their early stuff it has more of a bossa nova/lounge/ P5 sound to it. This is a song by them that’s kind of a mix of their retro sound, but does have some of the electronic as well.
