And The Winner Is…

UFOMystic wins Paul Kimball’s Zorgy Award again for “Top blog of 2008!” A big “thank you” to all of our readers who voted.

Nick was also up for “Top Paranormal Researcher,” making this the second year in a row that he was listed in two categories, but lost to Loren Coleman. This was probably due to the fact that his site, Cryptomundo, is rumored to receive hits that sometimes number in the millions each week. Kimball picked Nick as his personal favorite. Mac Tonnies’ Posthuman Blues was his personal pick for best blog.

“Top Podcast” award was given to Tim Binnall, and he deserves it. Radio Misterioso received a paltry 5% of the vote. I really need to get on the stick to make any headway next year!

A total of 2,637 people voted in seven categories, which is a healthy sample of the online UFO-reading public (not accounting for those who may have voted multiple times, if that was possible.) Ultimately, many of the categories most likely reflect how much each site or person has of the “market share.” One fringe benefit of the awards is that people may be reminded of other sites and people worthy of attention for those who value a balanced view of UFOs and other anomalous phenomena.

In the future, Paul may need to run primaries if he wants to further democratize the process, although that sort of project may admittedly take more time than most of us have available. As far as I know, the Zorgys are the only poll of this kind in existence.
