Black “Egg-Shaped” UFO Photographed
From the Phantoms and Monsters Blog comes a photo of a weird black thing that apparently paced a passenger airplane high over the Rocky Mountains on October 8th of this year. From the witness’ statement:
On October 8, 2008 I was flying to Oakland, CA from Chicago, IL. About half way into the flight, or a little more, I was bored and just started staring out the window as we were flying over the Mountain States. I soon realized a black egg flying around the same height as the plane was. It had a ghostly black tail (my first thought was that it was a plane on fire!) and was smoothly flying near the plane, as if it was supposed to be there.
Curious, I started taking pictures of it, so I could later zoom in and see it clearer. I remember looking around and not seeing anyone else notice it…and I didn’t say anything to anyone. I remember thinking “If this is a dangerous object…the pilot would know, right?”
The thing flew off without interacting with the jet aircraft at all.
I’m not sure why, but my first reaction was to compare it with the “flying witch” videos from Mexico from a few years ago. The second thought that came to mind were the photos of Trevor James Constable, who maintains that UFOs are a previously unknown type of aerial creature, but Constable’s photos were all taken with infrared film.
May be a hoax (epsecially if the witness remains anonymous, or comes out with more photos, or asks for money) but an intriguing image nonetheless.

I don’t know what that this, but wouldn’t bet too strongly against a natural phenomenon. An illusion that the object was tagging along could be created if it was at far enough a distance.

That is a possibly fruitful explanation, but what sort of natural phenomenon would account for it? I should take a look in my Corliss books!

I’ve seen this photo a few times and it reminds of another ufo video I watched on youtube a while back. I finally tracked it down again. As with all ufo photos and videos, I’m very guarded against “believing,” but this is remarkably simlar. If you have time check it out at:

Well, I think it’s something moving mostly away from the observer - possibly some re-entering space debris or a meteor trail seen from behind. The Egg Shape? without more information, explanation eludes me.
