Why? Because the world is going to end. Beautiful tautology there yet remarkably insightful. The real problem a la Professor Norman Cohn's eschtaology work, is the origin of linear time with the "symbolic revolution" of visually-dominant perception. No mention of the equivalence of the Promethian and Lucifer myths, and how asking questions leads to increased knowledge and self awareness; i.e., the point of those myths.
