(UFO and Weird) Collector’s Corner #2

Mac Tonnies has requested that I post something on a strange little object that I’ve owned for so long that I’ve forgotten where I bought it.

All I remember is that the seller had a couple of other depictions of famous UFO landing cases, but that this one was my favorite. It is a liberal interpretation of what Lonnie Zamora claimed he witnessed on April 24, 1964 in the rugged foothills near Socorro, New Mexico.

The base is a round box which holds rings and other small objects. The whole thing is 2.5 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter. It appears to be cast in pewter. Sometimes I can’t believe that anyone would take the time to make such strange things, thinking that others would actually want to own them. Too bad I didn’t have the money to buy the rest of the set.

For the record, Zamora described a white, oval object with the dimensions of a medium-sized car (at least in the early 1960s) resting on legs and parallel to the ground.

Fun fact: In Spanish, “socorro” is a word used to call for help.

Greg: This is off topic, but I have no other way to contact you. I just discovered the following posting which you may already know about, but in case you don’t, I think UFO Mystic readers would find it food for thought:

    Gavilian,

That is an excellent article. I think I’ll link it with an entry tomorrow. I knew and talked to “Brother Blue” for about a year before he went into retirement. He was an Excluded Middle subscriber. I remember he had a sign on his garage that read “CIA Parking Only” or something similar.

That is the most wicked cool thing I have ever seen! And you’re right– who in God’s name would manufacture such a thing? That’s a great story waiting to be told.

  4. Greg Bishop Says:

    LB,

There is no ID for the manufacturer on the object, so I’ll bet that it was made by someone with a passion for producing something cool that he or she hoped would interest others.
