UFO Cut-ups

I’ve been waiting for something like this. Mac Tonnies has posted and linked to an online cutup generator. For those unfamiliar with this concept, it involves taking words and phrases from various texts and rearranging them in random order to create new concepts and ideas. The technique was discovered and developed by Bryon Gysin and William S. Burroughs in the 1950s. Burroughs in particular has used it in his fiction, to amazing effect.

With a strange and enigmatic subject such as UFOs, the technique may reveal things which are swimming around our collective unconscious and need some sort of X-factor to tease out new ideas. It may also reveal what we are really thinking, or maybe provide a punchline to a joke we didn’t even realize we were telling.

Mac used some of his UFO writing and came up with this:

But while disclosure of alien visitation is eagerly awaited — even expected — encourage belief that Grays are flesh-and-blood ET anthropologists. Their antics, while horrifying, may be as bogus as But I doubt that that “something” is genetic material in the usual sense; it seems more likely spacecraft and diminutive occupants who seem to have stepped out of there’s the equally appealing possibility that manifesting in terms comprehensible to witnesses reflects the vocabulary with which to understand it. Or maybe it won’t, content to let us project our own unspoken semi-straight faces.

Of course, I tried it with some of my posts from ufomystic and came up with:

Subscribe to my Yahoo would like to see parapsychology involved in distances covered by high speed aircraft (60)

Around the internet progress has been made that they are on a cattle kick the cover of Communion, a flying saucer some readers (including myself, and death.)

Many readers may as well, and repeated attempts to make one with Humanoid figures on or even think about? It is easier to think about equipment.

If in answer to similar be faked so easily. Why apparently hovered over until a few years ago may not.

The phenomenon appears to have perfectly human. In fact, I thought a copy of old the US Military has released little? Images floating around the internet made up. Later in the same month, worldwide political perfectly isolated location control and political unrest. In consecutive evenings, June 26-27, 1959. About twenty-five Earth.

I’d be interested to see our readers try this out. It might be like our version of SETI@home, where the thousands of random signals received by radio telescopes all over the world are examined by individual home computers to search for intelligent signals. Perhaps we can discover some sort of message that non-humans or our collective thoughts may be trying to send to us.

The cutup generator is here. Cutups with other parnormal subjects mixed in would be very interesting as well, Get to it!

    I came up with this:

I will end this posting of First Contact between humanity and ‘the of other living creatures. this posting by recommending could follow less than a creating. Did you know that the average as any experience in his actual of man among the lives anymore. It wonder that people this was published before HBO, “24″, race of alien beings so monumentally advanced out over the part of the action. To achieve this powers. Yet there’s one part of the their own lives
He even predicted memory as avivid as other person, and could take part in cyber-punk movement.

Man, mixing my blog posts is like putting scrambled eggs on a blender ;-)

    RPJ,

Don’t underestimate the value of your original writing.

And that last line of the cut up (at least) is pure poetry.

Listen Greg — before you all get too carried away I should mention a “synchronicity” about these Burroughs and Gysin schemes. I’m referring to the book “Chapel of Extreme Experience” by John Geiger, some academic published by Soft Skull Press. Have you read this? I was trying to order it yesterday. The book is on the Gysin’s DREAM MACHINE, which, in my opinion, has way more validity than “cut-ups.”

I was rereading Dr. Richard Katz’ book BOILING ENERGY the other day and he cites this 1930s anthropology study on the Bushmen with the discovery that 8 PULSES PER SECOND is the secret for music trance healing.

So I mentioned this to a buddy of mine who walked past my full-lotus-reading yesterday. He hasn’t heard CONGOTRONICS yet, which, is probably the best “dream machine” out there, along with the Pygmy ECHOES OF THE FOREST c.d. He did promote Burroughs and Gysin’s 8 pulses per second concept through and I pulled out my slip of paper with the Geiger book title on it, while asking if my friends extensive acid trips had brought any insights about… “phosphenes” the new P.C. term for “aura.” We discussed Kirilian photos and biophotons and I mentioned how this expert on the Hopi artwork argues there’s 16 basis phosphenes found in ancient art worldwide — he says Kokopelli was NOT a Kachina btw (as per dailygrail a couple days ago).

I walked down the street to the local Pagan books and herbs store and was ushered into this secret contraband backroom where I suddenly discovered a copy of the book my friend had referenced about Kirilian photos and acupuncture energy points: “The new Soviet Psychic Discoveries.” Meanwhile LaViolette’s “Secrets of Antigravity Propulsion: Tesla, UFOs, and Classified Aerospace Technology” had just come in. I left the store also with a rare copy of “The Essential Colin Wilson” and went off for another full-lotus-reading extravaganza. 8 pulses per second creates sonoluminescence.

    Drew,

There is an online dream machine here.

I don’t know how one would conceptualize the experience/ images and communicate them effectively to others from a dream machine session. The cut ups seem to give one better control of the input, and easy and immediate access to the results for self and others. The randommness factor is out of our hands, at least with the online tool. I value this, since our minds will tend to arrange things as it sees fit, with associated problems of analytical overlay, etc.

Your comments sometimes seem like cutups to me!

Maybe John Geiger gets into the extraterrestrial tidbit — here’s the title of his new essay (and appears to be must-reading for all of us cutup abduction survivors): The Sensed Presence as Coping Resource in Extreme Environments.

It’s like the next generation of cutup. I haven’t been following it but I had to dig it up after reading this.

Fluctuations of character centroid intervals in laterally written Japanese sentences
    Saiki T, Kitagawa Y, Hayashi A

IEICE TRANSACTIONS ON FUNDAMENTALS OF ELECTRONICS, COMMUNICATIONS AND COMPUTER SCIENCES, E82A(3):520-526 (MAR 1999)
    Abstract
Fluctuation characteristics of character centroid intervals in laterally written Japanese sentences are investigated by means of their spatial frequency characteristics. Power spectra of character centroid intervals in their longitudinal and transverse directions are obtained for handwritten and word processor printed sample sentences. It is shown that for fluctuation characteristics in the longitudinal direction, power spectra are inversely proportional to their spatial frequencies for handwritten sentences and proportional to them for word processor printed sentences, and there exists a remarkable difference between handwritten and word processor printed sentences. It is also shown that for fluctuation characteristics in the transverse direction, power spectra are proportional to their spatial frequencies for both handwritten and word processor printed sentences, and there is no remarkable difference between handwritten and word processor printed sentences.

I’ve done something similar but combined images and words, to give the sentences new meanings, when juxtaposed with the pictures
