Drew:
Many thanks for this; very interesting! Yeah, Jon's "Island of Paradise" book is a great one, and required reading for anyone interested in the controversy of the Chupa.

Nick: When I finished your book I thought of a friend who would really like it. Since I make no plans (have no phone, etc.) when I randomly passed the anarchist cafe where he hangs and I spied his outline in the dim light, my bike skidded almost into his body with my message: "I have a delivery!"

So he was psyched (and stoned) but when I also showed him the Derleth book he went on this "micropredation" rant about how there wasn't really a "mythos" to Lovecraft. Then he asked me if I knew about the skunk ape and also stated that he wanted to read about chupacabra (forcing me to pull out my "Island of Paradise" book). While he's more into Algernon Blackwood, the link between forteana and cosmic horror fiction did not go unnoticed. More than once he said he would read your book, meanwhile Downes' book is a VERY EXCELLENT read.

Well it is a nice balance to "all things Forteana" considering I've spent the day reading the dangerously overwhelming "There's Something in the Woods." Nevertheless I was hooked into swinging into my local scifi-fantasy-horror store for a copy of "The Lurker at the Threshold." It's rare to find fiction worthy of reading.

As for your new book Nick -- the quesy feeling in my stomach attests to its power. Earth-shattering comes to mind. The security blanket for me is the recurrent experience of the "Oz Effect" via sound, which is the basis of my research as well.

Dave Clarke needs to get himself a new hosting server. I can't get to his site 95% of the time...some sort of routing issue to Australia I'm guessing.
