That Edgar Mitchell UFO Show
The story about former Apollo astronaut and Noetic Science Institute founder Edgar Mitchell and his “disclosure” interview on Australian radio has been screaming across the blogspace and the message boards for a couple of days now. If you haven’t heard about this, here are the relevant points, snagged from the Australian National Website
Edgar Mitchell says there IS life in the Universe.
He says we have been visited, and that UFOs have been covered up by the government for a long time.
Edgar says it is a real phenomena.
He says he’s been inside military circles and they know we’ve been visited and talk about it behind closed doors.
He says he’s been involved in certain research committees and knows people who know the real story.
There is quite a bit of contact going on.
The Roswell crash was real.
Doesn’t know if Disclosure will be this year or not…
Public acceptance is increasing.
Not all UFOs are of ET origin. Some are home-grown. But some are ET crafts.
He’s not concerned about his safety talking about it openly anymore.
Alien intent is not hostile.
Some others involved in the Moon landing also know the truth.
The host made the point that this is the first time Edgar has stated so clearly that ET life exists and UFOs are real. He’s hinted at it, but this is the first time ever…
I couldn’t get the program to open up to the relevant segment so that I could hear this for myself. If Mitchell is telling it like it is (or at least as he knows it) we are faced with some interesting questions.
Is Mitchell the victim of some sort of controlled info leak? Are the people who told him this victims as well?
Are the people he’s talked to actual witnesses to ET beings and hardware? Is Mitchell?
Do those who know about contact sure about its origin? How do they trust it?
Are those who know about this contact sure that they know the whole story, or is it a working hypothesis?
It’s also worthy to note that the interview occurred on a foreign radio show, which makes it less visible to U.S. residents, the global nature of internet radio notwithstanding. It would also be nice to know where and from whom Mitchell heard these stories, but that might be naming names. Given that he’s not afraid for his safety anymore, could he name places and times that could be checked out? What about deceased individuals who wouldn’t have a problem if their names were mentioned? (Admittedly, this last factor might not help that much.) In any case, Mitchell is a respected American hero, and many people are inclined to take him seriously.
What if this is just a huge cover for a push by U.S. authorities to play the “we are talking to the aliens” card (with a poker face aiding the bluff) due to sagging influence around the world?
If we are lucky, answers will come in time. Given the history of government disclosure on the UFO subject, I have little faith that this will happen anytime soon. I kind of hope that I’m wrong.

He doesn’t really say anything new per se. It’s pretty much the same things that other respected UFO researchers have said over the years with the difference being that Edgar Mitchell is an astronaut which would make him that much more credible.
I have to admit I was quite surprised to hear his claim of being briefed on aliens and UFOs. It’s not something you would expect to hear from somebody like him.
It kinda makes you wonder.

Yeah, and they come in peace and are here to save us.
If the US military had alien technology, or dangerous mental powers they would have won the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lately I’ve been reading a book on the Celtic Otherworld so my head is full of stories about fairy abduction. Hey, maybe the military has been in negotiations with an army of fairies.

We need more highly credentialed people to come out and confirm the truth of the issue. It has indeed been amazing this year that so many have spoken seriously on the exointelligence issue. I hope the trend continues and leads to a complete disclosure very soon. There’s definitely *something* going on, it’s almost tangible the air of expectancy lately. But I want to bring this point up: Even if there was a full disclosure by the US government and others that there has been and is ongoing contact with exointelligence, that does not necessarily mean that you’re suddenly going to see one of these aliens standing in line with you at the local Stop n Shop or crossing the street in front of you while you wait for a redlight. I suspect that these exopeople will simply continue doing whatever it is they have been doing, they way they have been doing it, being as standoffish as ever. If they needed to have a daily contact with mainstream public people they would already initiated it.
Here’s another thought: Should they choose to mingle with society, would these exopeople be covered by the same Human Rights laws and protections that we enjoy? They are after all not “human”. What’s to prevent some nutcase from just killing one of these Exos like a dog in the street? And what if the Exo defends itself and kills the attacker? Do our laws and justices apply to the Exo or would he simply be put down the way a killer bear for example would be put down? Perhaps this is why Exos are standoffish?

Well considering you can still be Catholic and believe in aliens (supposedly a comet was ex-communicated by the Pope back around 1054) so I guess it’s now safe to speak out. Panspermia on Prozac? Meat Mitchell.

Yes, that’s what you would think. Why hold back on this so-called “alien” tech? I think a possibility is that it might be an “ace up the sleeve,” perhaps to be used only in the most dire circumstances, and quietly and sparingly until then.
I also think about technology that is 10-20 years ahead of where we think it is (perhaps more with accelerated information and research) and how that could be hidden under the “alien” rubric.
…or you’re right and there is no such thing. Lots of possibilities.

Perhaps he’s enmeshed by association rather than actual contact with them, even though it is exactly what they want to hear. I think Mitchell has been careful about who he endorses or associates with.
I don’t know if I buy it for the reasons (questions) I posted, but I’m willing to keep an ear open.

You’re a new commenter, I think. Welcome.
I don’t know if the “truth” is what people tend to think. Perhaps if the authorities state that there is some sort of non-human intelligence that interacts with us from time to time, the phenomenon will shut down or morph into something completely different.
That’s what I would do if I wasn’t prepared to deal with humans, because I don’t know if we’re ready to meet the phenomenon on it’s own terms, because those terms may be completely alien (pun intended) to us.
Perhaps it just exists for our benefit as an extension into our reality that appears as we expect it to i.e. in terms we can understand. We might have defined those terms for ourselves long ago, and the phenomenon continues without reference to space, time, or what we currently think about it.
