Chinese Company Develops UFO

After 12 years and 4 million dollars, the Harbin Smart Special Aerocraft Co Ltd has announced that has a working prototype of an unmanned aerial platform that can travel at 50 mph or fly up to 1000 feet.

I want to know how much this RC model costs so I can amaze my friends and cause UFO reports.

It sounds a lot like some of the saucer shaped devices being developed in the
UK ( I think Nick has done some posts
on them in the past.), mainly for public
    surveilance work.

I think the image from the link is some kind of modern art installation sculpture-it certainly doesn’t match the
    description in the text.

“The aircraft is 1.2 metres (four feet) in diameter and is able to take off and land vertically and hover at an altitude of up to 1,000 metres (yards), Xinhua news agency said.

I concurr with Craig. If the saucer is 1.2 meters in diameter, then the guy standing next to it is what? 40-cm (16 inches) tall???

They say it can hover 1000 meters (yards), well… which one is it? 1000 metes is really impressive, but 1000 yards is only 305 meters, although it would still be better than what Moller’s saucer can pull off (you remember Moller, don’t you, he’s the guy who has promised you a flying car since you were a toddler)

That picture has nothing to do with this news story. That particular image has been aroudn for at least a year or so. I’ve come across it before doing general image searches for “UFO”. So my guess is that the folks putting this news item up at Breitbart did the same thing, googled for a “UFO” image and came up with that and posted it cuz they liked its stylish flare.

Drudge then linked to a copy of THIS image …

    http://psiopradio.podomatic.com/mymedia/thumb/1031754/460%3E_1045559.jpg

… which I’ve not been able to verify (that link is to the copy I downloaded and renamed).

Red- I think you’re confusing yards with feet. 1000 yards works out to
(roughly) 923 meters, if my memory of
    a meter being about 39 inches ( Vs. 36
inches in a yard, or three feet ).

  5. red pill junkie Says:

Yes, I think I made that mistake craig. Thanks for the correction :-)

    Still, I was right on 4 feet/1.2 m in diameter ;-)

Wow, so my first comment in this thread only appears when I log in.

    What’s up with that?

  7. Greg Bishop Says:

I don’t know what’s up with that photo either, and I couldn’t find a picture of the supposed craft at any of the other news sites that ran the story. That one from the Drudge site looks pretty low-tech. Who knows where it came from, or if the Drudge people either checked it out, or just wanted to give the impression that the Chinese are way behind us in the UAV field.

  8. Greg Bishop Says:

    Elfis,

How did you leave a comment without logging in?

  9. anomaly Says:

Greg … I logged in and posted that first message with the url to the image. Then logged out and came back to the site later the same day. Once here I noticed that my comment was missing so I logged back in and then VOILA it was there. At that point I posted the second message inquiring about the disappearing / reappearing previous post. Whatever happened it appears to have resolved as I saw both of them just now without having been logged in - that is, before logging in NOW to post this …

And I suspect you are right that Drudge just grabbed yet another UAV pic in much the same way I suspect that the AP did with that unrelated pic that they posted.

  10. red pill junkie Says:

Oh, that’s just Wordpress at work, dear elfis… or is it anomaly?

You see, when you include urls in your post, Wordpress automatically assumes you’re selling Herbal Viagra or something like that, so it takes longer for your message to appear, but it eventually does ;-)
