Sci-Fi Abductions?
Over at his A Different Perspective blog, Kevin Randle has an interesting and thought-provoking new post titled Betty Hill and the Twilight Zone.
Kevin says: “I suppose it’s time to stir the controversy pot again and point out that in The Abduction Engima, published about ten years ago, we, meaning Russ Estes, Bill Cone, and I, discuss all the pop cultural references to alien abduction starting with a 1908 silent movie, the pulp era of science fiction meaning the 1930s and 40s, and the movies that mirror the abduction phenomenon long before anyone in the UFO field was talking about it. Does this mean that all the abductees were exposed to this material? Well, the opportunity was certainly there.”
Kevin’s post covers some highly intriguing areas relative to the way in which on-screen science-fiction may have subtly (or perhaps not so subtly!) influenced the alien abduction controversy in general and the Betty and Barney Hill case of 1961 in particular. Or may not have - depending on your personal perspective!
And still on the subject of how sci-fi may have influenced aspects of the UFO controversy, in one episode of the old British TV show, UFO, an autopsy is undertaken on an alien by the secret government group that is tasked with defeating them. At one point during the autopsy, the medical team removes a “contact lens” from the alien’s eye that eerily parallels the similar scene in the infamous Alien Autopsy film that Ray Santilli thrust upon an unsuspecting world in the mid-1990s. Hmmm….

Nick,
Have you read Ed Conroy’s “Report On Communion”? What do you think of the book?

Mr A.
Yeah, I have read Conroy’s book - but a long time ago, and probably around the time it was published. What was that: maybe 89/90?
Anyway, I thought it was a pretty good and insightful read, primarily because it wasn’t written from the perspective of someone with a pre-planned agenda.
And, from what I recall of it nearly 2 decades on, I thought he got into Striber’s character pretty well.

=_= ………….lol…………
you guys are going about this the whole wrong way…..
and thinking about it the wrong way too.
I think that alien was real and the stupid military commandos murdered it.
you should analyze that substance that was on their eyes then maybe you’ll know why they use it and why it’s black.
They do come from other dimensions and some of them come from and for you and you alone. Some of them are alive on their own and some are given life by you. Trust me I know….
They come for the ones who are ready to evolve. That’s all.
