Bigfoot & UFOs
There are, I strongly suspect, few theories that are likely to provoke as much controversy among Ufologists and Cryptozoologists as does the theory that there is a direct connection between “Sasquatch and the Saucers.”
Indeed, it’s a topic positively guaranteed to raise the hackles of many - to the point where, on one memorable occasion at a gig in the UK a few years back, I almost saw the debate between two Fortean characters descend into a full-scale fight!
And now, Lisa Shiel addresses the controversy in a several-part series of posts at her blog, Backyard Phenomena.
Lisa says: “ I have often talked about the Bigfoot-UFO connection, and how a lot of researchers want to censor sightings in order to avoid that connection. Whenever I talk about this connection, I get asked the same question: What exactly is the connection?
“Of course, nobody knows with any degree of certainty. After examining the evidence, though, I have reached a few conclusions about what may connect Bigfoot and UFOs.
“Somebody pilots those UFOs. From small drones to mile-wide mother ships, all UFOs must have an intelligence behind them. Some people think UFOs are earth lights or manifestations of group consciousness or some such silliness—neither of those theories fits the evidence or even makes sense when you think about it. I will not waste space here detailing the problems with those theories. Everything I am about to say stems from one hypothesis: UFOs represent technology created by an advanced race.
“Bigfoot have probably lived on this planet longer than humans. They resemble the ancient hominids far more than we do; legends of hairy man-beasts date back centuries, perhaps millennia. Tales of UFOs extend back equally as far. In fact, it would seem that as long as UFOs have existed, Bigfoot have existed too.”

Technology = tools, advanced = the ipod fits under your ilid. ( How did you get italics in your post?! One of my main complaints with blog responses is the
lack of flexibility…)
Anyway, while I’ve noticed the occasional correlation between UFOs and
ABSMs, to leap to conclusions that Ms.
Shiels does seems a bit premature.

Well, the webster dictionary offers this definition:
“the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area”
For us westerners, this implies mechanical tools, as we are conditioned by th effects of the greek inffluence in the Reinassence, an effor that was crowned by the Industrial Revolution. But can we assume this is the ONLY path any intelligent civilization may follow? I once saw a documentary about the use of Ayahuasca, and I liked the part when the director concluded that what the amazonian shamans did with the plant was a “technology for the psyche”.
BTW craig, if you want something to appear in italics, simply start by entering [i] (but instead of brackets use ) and finish by typing [/i] (again, instead of brackets use , I have to type it like this so the page dismiss the “” as commands. Hope this helps

As I said in Darklore I think the more interesting aspect is that not only have some linked Bigfoot to UFOs (in enough independent cases to make you wonder) but both together, and separately, grade into high strangeness, which could suggest they are all on a continuum.

What I’d really like to hear more about is the Fortean fist fight but I somehow suspect this will border on libel. Perhaps use the form of “Mr X grabbed Mr Y by the family jewels and whispered menacingly in his ear ‘Any more of your Sasquatch/Saucer nonsense and you’ll be kissing your dreams of children goodbye.’” Or something like that.

Until a few years ago I never would have made the connection between bigfoots and ufos. That is, until I watched Star Wars Episode III. (at least I think thats the episode)
Near the end Yoda steps into a wookie spaceship that looks like those egg ships you see on temples and frescos.
And then it all dawned on me…Sasquatches, UFOs, Wookie ETs…

Ooops sorry, the egg ship was probably yodas in the first place as it wasn’t wookie size — but it was on the wookie planet. And that was when I made the connection.
