Dulce: It’s baaaack!
Rumors of an alleged underground alien base existing in the vicinity of Dulce, New Mexico have proliferated for more than twenty-five years - as Greg notes astutely within the pages of his book Project Beta; a book that capably demonstrates how many such stories may have been created (or at least encouraged) by elements of US Intelligence to hide activities of a far more down-to-earth nature.
As the years progressed, the tales took on strange, disturbing and almost legendary and mythical proportions, amid claims that black-eyed alien dwarfs were systematically mutilating cattle and using human beings in all sorts of diabolical genetic experimentation deep below New Mexico.
From there, the stories progressed (if that’s the correct term to use - and I’m not at all sure it is…) to wild tales of imminent alien invasion, of enslavement of the human race by the dastardly invaders, and of a government that had lost control of the situation but that was too scared to inform the populace, given that it was all much too late. And, with the end near, what was the point in doing anything anyway?
Needless to say, the end didn’t come (okay, for the true believers: the end hasn’t come yet), but Dulce never seems to stay buried for long, as this link reveals.
So, is there really something alien in the Dulce area, or can everything be explained as a result of weird, Intelligence-sponsored mind-games, paranoia, the ever-churning UFO rumor-mill, and more?
Well, Greg’s Project Beta certainly makes it clear that there was indeed a very weird spate of cattle mutilations in the area in the mid-to-late 70s. However, Greg also reveals that there are indications that those mutilations may have originated far closer to home than many have suspected - or may want to believe. So, something was afoot. But that’s a far cry from saying that there is a James Bond-style underground base in the area where blood-thirtsy aliens eat people for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and as a tasty midnight snack.
But there’s no doubt that back in the late 70s and early 80s, certain people with official ties were very keen to ensure that horror stories concerning Dulce’s underground base found their way into the heart of the UFO community.
And ufology being what it is, the original tales were carelessly elaborated upon by certain ufologists (sometimes wildly and outrageously). And, as a result, the Men in Black, cigar-chomping generals, and a multiplicity of official spooks and spies could just sit back and congratulate themselves, while ufology busied itself for years with yet more dead-ends and tales that could never be vindicated.
Precisely why all this was going on remains an enigma for many. Yet, I’m personally convinced that Greg’s Project Beta comes pretty close to summing up the odd affair.
But, as this new story demonstrates, the underground stories of Dulce are surfacing once more…

I don’t really know much about the whole Dulce thing… it frankly seemed a tad rediculous and I have remained uninterested in the matter.
Has anyone actually seen this base? Is there a secure area like the perimeter around Area 51? I haven’t seen anyone mention anything like that.

Yeah, a lot of the Dulce stories are indeed over the top, and like something from an old sci fi film. But what’s interesting is one of the central themes of Greg’s book - namely that for intriguing intelligence-based reasons the Government helped perpetuate the tales of Dulce.

Forgetting about wild aliens speculations for a minute, the cattle mutilations is just one case in the list of the incresing in weirdness with our relationship with bovines.
First there was the cattle mutilations of the 70s.
Then there was the “Mad Cow” hysteria of the late 80s and early 90s.
Now in the early XXIst century,I believe we are witnessing the beginning of a new type of hysteria: the conception of cows as greater threats to the enviroment than coal mines and SUV’s, because of the great amounts of methane these animals expell throught their mouths (motly) and anuses while digesting food.
So, why cows over and over again???

Oh! also, what was it that was removed in most cattle mutilations: why the rectum and the mouth/lips of the cows!

Red Pill:
Re cows, mutes etc: you might want to read Colm Kelleher’s book “Brain Trust” which addresses mutes and suggests a link with covert testing in connection with diseases that may spill over into the human population.
Personally, I think the small number of genuine mutes were/are for purposes related to concerns of emerging viruses, disease, etc and the UFO angle may have been subtly promoted at an official level to get people away from the truth.

Hi Nick,
I’ve never been able to figure out though, if the government wanted to test for emerging viruses etc - why not just go shopping at the local sales yards?
Kind regards,
Greg

Nick-
Don’t forget Colm Kelleher’s other book, ‘Hunt for the Skinwalker’, with its tales of truly strange cattle mutilations. If these events really happened as depicted, it’s tough to imagine them being the work of covert agencies alone. It doesn’t really sound like aliens either, something weirder.

Nick, et. al.,
I followed the link. It seems the Dulce thing is “back” because some writer at a British pop culture site decided to write about it, using the link that appears at the top of most search engines. This writer seems to have gone there and followed the links to the Schneider video.
Weird thing about Schneider: he seems to have contracted some strange fast-acting cancer or have been poisoned - I don’t rememeber which - and his wife was asking New Mexico law enforcement to investigate his death. I don’t think she was successful.
Yes, I presently think that the cattle mutes were mainly the result of some pathogen getting out into the domestic and wild animal populations in the mid-to-late 1970s. The reason that the authorities just don’t buy cattle at auctions or whatever is that the disease may affect certain bloodlines more than others. It also affords whoever is doing this “work” a chance to practice covert operations and those who direct them to look at the spread of rumor and conspiracy theories (which were probably started by them.)
To some, this sounds even weirder than the “aliens are doing it” theory, but I have never seen any conclusive proof of aliens. There is plenty of evidence that humans are doing at least some of of the mutilations-just ask Chris O’Brien.

Uth:
Yeah Skinwalker is an interesting book. There are some weird UK animal mutes too - which are tied in with satanic groups, rites and rituals. Particularly in the UK county of Devon the UK police have a number of such reports on file of mutes and rites having been committed in the vicinity of old stone circles.
